ABOUT THE JOB:
A competent person who is appointed as the Designated Person in Charge (DPIC) for a particular diving operation. He shall have experience in, and knowledge of, all phases of the diving operation to ensure that it is carried without risk to the health and safety of all those taking part and of any other person who may be affected by the diving project plan and in compliance with any relevant statutory provisions
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Conduct pre-dive inspection and post-dive briefing on the tasks to be undertaken before commencement of the operation to ensure that each person taking part is aware of contents of the diving project plan, the safety procedures for the diving mode, and unusual hazards or environmental conditions likely to affect the safety of the diving operation just before the diver entering the water
Organize and supervise all air and subsea activities according to the diving project plan to eliminate any hazard exposure to the diving-team
Monitors surface and underwater conditions, thermal protection, diving equipment and systems, and the physical fitness of dive-team members to modify the plan to any changes from original conditions
Monitor all audio and video communications with divers while performing to ensure provision of technical and safety advice and assistance as needed
In mixed-gas diving mode, to ensure that divers underwater are supplied with a breathing gas other than air, and to maintain primary and reserve gas supply sufficient to support divers for the duration of any planned dive including decompression
Monitors repetitive dive designation or residual inert-gas status of divers to ensure compliance to diving safety standards
Maintain a daily record in the diving logbook including details of any recompression therapy to ensure that all necessary information and diving particulars are properly documented for reference
Shall be available on location at all times to ensure immediate dealing with emergencies
Supervise training and development programs to ensure adherence to training objectives
MINIMUN QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE:
Technical Diploma in relevant field or Secondary School Certificate with a vocational trade certificate in the relevant field
Eight years of experience in general diving operations with minimum 3 years in a supervisory capacity
IMCA Air Diving supervisor or equivalent trade certificate from a recognized organization
HSE Part 1 or equivalent Offshore Diver Certification from a recognized organization
Diving First Aid certificate and IMCA Dive Medical Technician certification
Commercial awareness of the current diving environment with strong knowledge of sub-sea installation and equipment specifications
Skill and knowledge in both air & mixed gas diving techniques
Ability to schedule work, activities, events, and programs
Skill in organizational, planning, and prioritizing of works
Ability to take original and creative decisions, thorough knowledge of his functional domain
Knowledge of modern diving operating systems
Knowledge of applicable diving regulations and statutory framework
Proficiency in English and ability to use PC software associated with diving systems
