Job Summary
The College of Communication & Media Sciences seeks an incumbent for the position of Student Media Editorial Advisor. To oversee, advise and coordinate, in collaboration with the management of student media by the Student Media Editorial Board, the curricular and extra-curricular administrative operations of ZAJEL ZU, the student media outlet housed in the College of Communication and Media Sciences.
Responsibilities

• Oversees the timely submission of content generated within and outside the classroom for review by the student media editorial board and to be published
• Spearheads routine publication of student content for each day that ZU classes are in session.
• Helps students and faculty generate compelling story ideas, and guides students in producing stories that meet professional standards.
• Serves as overseeing editor of student work, to make sure it meets standards of quality.
• Exercises news judgment in collaboration with Student Media Editorial Board.
• Works with faculty to facilitate regular submissions of content from all of the CCMS writing, film and pr courses
• In collaboration with the management of Zajel by the student media editorial board, plans the delivery of English and Arabic language student media
• Organizes, recruits and trains student contributors and editors from outside the classroom and the college of communication and media sciences
• Administers ZAJEL'S Word Pres site and maintains it in collaboration with IT.
• Monitors and evaluates, in collaboration with the student media editorial board, the content being published for quality, applicability to the College's mission and to UAE cultural sensitivity
• Develops and implements training programs and workshops to prepare students to contribute to student media aligned to the College's strategic plan and vision in cooperation with du and other CCMS technical staff
• Collaborates with the faculty teaching media content creation courses in the creation and delivery of content for Zajel
• Organizes, oversee and review student media content generated by students covering university and outside events requested by the university or 3rd parties that may not be destined for Zajel publication
• Organizes events to recognize student contributions to Zajel, and to spotlight students' best work.
• Requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and meet ongoing deadlines
• A strong detail-oriented personality that can also demonstrate flexibility and cordiality when dealing with peers
• Interacts with students and faculty to educate, influence, and build a collaborative environment for student media publication.

Required Skills

• Must have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience and a Master's degree in journalism, communication or related field from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Fluency in Arabic and English
• Ability to travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai
• Ability to work with WordPress, Microsoft Office, Windows, and Mac OS, Garage band
• Ability to work with Adobe Creative Suite Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator and Final Cut Studio preferred
