Position Overview
Structural Inspector roles in Dubai infrastructure and building projects focus on site-based inspection, quality control, and compliance verification of structural works. Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect structural works to confirm compliance with contract drawings, specifications, and approved construction methods
  • Monitor activities related to demolition and construction of structural elements such as reservoirs, lifting stations, landscaping structures, lagoons, swimming pools, substations, retaining walls, tunnels, bridges, and related infrastructure
  • Maintain project files including inspection records, quantity calculations, and daily site diaries
  • Prepare daily inspection reports and required documentation in line with contract requirements
  • Verify that only approved materials are used and incorporated into the works
  • Conduct labor compliance interviews and maintain accurate as-built records
  • Identify potential conflicts, issues, or construction problems and recommend corrective actions to the supervisor
  • Collect, review, and file certificates of compliance, safety data sheets, inspection tags, and material-related documentation
  • Report installed quantities to support payment applications and variation or change order assessments
  • Coordinate with subconsultants for surveying, laboratory testing, and material inspections
  • Assist in the development of job safety practices and preparation of safety-related reports
  • Support implementation of quality control procedures and preparation of quality reports
  • Respond to emergency site call-backs when required
  • Document nonconformances and participate in defining appropriate corrective actions
  • Provide technical guidance to junior inspectors when assigned
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner with due consideration for public safety
  • Carry out additional inspection duties associated with the role as required
Ideal Profile
  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working as a Structural Inspector within the region
  • Knowledge of public works contracts and construction-related processes
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings and technical specifications
  • Strong numerical skills including understanding of engineering calculations, graphs, and charts
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications including Microsoft Office, project management tools, and internet-based systems
  • Ability to understand and comply with project requirements based on client and industry standards
  • Strong diary keeping and technical reporting skills
  • Good command of English grammar, writing, and technical communication
  • Understanding of construction scheduling and progress tracking
  • Ability to review progress payment estimates and extra work claims
  • Strong awareness of hazardous work conditions and ability to take appropriate corrective actions
  • Effective time management and ability to work independently or within a team environment
  • Good judgment, adaptability, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
