Structural Engineer - ISP Infrastructure (UK)



Job Summary



We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to lead the design, inspection, and implementation of telecom and ISP infrastructure across the UK, including fibre optic and air fibre networks, poles, outdoor cabinets, and mounting systems.

The role ensures full compliance with essential UK engineering, safety, and telecom standards while supporting next-generation, high-speed, and secure network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities



- Lead the design, planning, and supervision of telecom poles, cabinets, and structural supports for fibre optic and air fibre networks.

- Prepare structural calculations, load assessments, technical drawings, and RAMS documentation.

- Ensure all designs comply with UK standards, including UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes (BS EN 1990-1999), BS EN 40, and CDM 2015 (Construction Design & Management Regulations).

Professional Lighting guide 07 (PLG07)

- Select materials and design solutions suitable for ground conditions, environmental exposure, and long-term durability. Must specify /understand Galvanise, steal, weld specifications.

- Ensure infrastructure meets ISP and telecom requirements, including Openreach PIA, NRSWA, and HAUC UK Guidelines.

- Verify correct installation procedures for aerial and underground fibre and air fibre networks.

- Write scope and approve for site surveys, structural inspections, and ground condition assessments.

- Write scope for quality audits to ensure HSE compliance and safety standards.

- Coordinate with field teams, contractors, and project managers to ensure safe and timely installation.

- Review contractor proposals, plans, and as-built documentation.

- Prepare written risk assessments for works in public areas, traffic zones, or near overhead lines-Coordinate support maintenance teams in diagnosing structural issues and performing failure analysis for damaged poles, leaning structures, or compromised cabinets.

- Maintain accurate engineering records, inspection reports, and structural documentation.

- Update and manage infrastructure data using GIS or network asset management systems.

- Mentor junior engineers and field staff on structural best practices, safety protocols, and telecom installation standards.

Qualifications



- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

- Experience in structural design or telecom/utility infrastructure, preferably with fibre optic or next-generation networks.

- Strong understanding of UK engineering standards and telecom installation practices.

- Proficient in AutoCAD, structural analysis software, and MS Office.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred



- Experience with designing street lighting, telecoms mast, street cabinets, Overhead fibre deployment on telegraph poles.

- Knowledge of aerial and underground telecom infrastructure.

- Experience liaising with local authorities or utility providers.

- Certifications such as CSCS, SMSTS, or NRSWA Supervisor.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED8,000.00 - AED10,000.00 per month
