Summary
The Structural Designer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services to large and small projects. The designer is responsible for the production of civil and structural 3D models and 2D drawings in accordance with project requirements under the supervision of the Lead Engineer/Designer.
The Structural Designer is required to apply specialized and/or advanced engineering principles at conceptual and detailed level. The designer participates in a wide range of projects covering civil and structural design including Potroom structures, Process structures, non-Process structures, Steel cladded structures, warehouses, Piperacks, foundations, substations, access platforms, retaining walls, culverts, liquid retaining structures and pump stations. Activities include site investigation, civil and structural steel and concrete 3D modeling and drafting for both front end planning and the detailed engineering phase for multi-discipline projects.
As the successful candidate, you will:
Assist the Lead Engineer/Designer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, quantities, cost and schedule
Coordinate the work of draftspersons in the preparation of contract drawings, record keeping and other statistical work
Produce and maintain technical and engineering drawings using 3D and 2D CAD software as required
Perform conceptual layout work
Develop design concepts/details
Check drawings prior to each release stage
Ensure coordination with designers and engineers within the discipline and with other disciplines
Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models
Participation in formal engineering review processes
Verify onsite condition and dimensions relating to existing facilities
Construction supervision dependent upon project demands
Incorporate safety in design.
You bring to the role:
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
Engineering diploma or equivalent (civil/structural)
Minimum of ten (10) years of civil and structural design experience
Experience within a large project, multi-disciplinary EPCM environment
Proficient in the use of 3D and 2D structural designer software packages \xe2\x80\x93 SP3D, MicroStation and AutoCAD
Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the project
Understanding of other discipline requirements
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good safety awareness
