We are seeking a well-organized and detail-oriented Storekeeper to manage and maintain inventory for our furnished chamber manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of materials such as steel structural materials, fasteners, accessories, paint, AC units, distribution boards (DB), electrical components, welding consumables, cables, and other related items. This role is responsible for the efficient handling, storage, and issuance of materials, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the timely availability of supplies to meet production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory & Material Management
Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials using the company's inventory system.
Ensure proper identification, labeling, and traceability of all materials.
Implement stock control measures to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
Manage both company-purchased and customer-supplied materials, ensuring segregation and proper documentation.
Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile with system records.
2. Material Receipt & Inspection
Coordinate unloading, inspection, and verification of received materials against purchase orders and delivery notes.
Ensure quality checks are conducted for materials such as steel, electrical components, AC units, paints, and consumables.
Record any discrepancies, damages, or quality concerns and coordinate with procurement and QA/QC teams.
3. Storage & Handling
Organize materials in designated storage areas according to category (steel, electrical, HVAC, paint, consumables, etc.).
Ensure proper storage conditions for sensitive materials (e.g., climate control for paints, moisture protection for electrical parts).
Oversee safe material handling procedures to prevent damage and workplace accidents.
4. Material Issuance
Process material requisitions from production, installation, and maintenance teams.
Ensure materials are issued in the right quantity, at the right time, to the right department.
Maintain records of issued materials for job costing and traceability.
5. Safety & Compliance
Implement and maintain housekeeping and safety standards in the store area.
Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO standards, and relevant legal requirements.
Train store staff on inspection, safe storage and handling practices.
6. Coordination & Communication
Liaise with procurement, production, QA/QC, and project teams to ensure smooth material flow.
Provide timely updates on stock levels, slow-moving items, and material requirements.
Participate in project planning meetings to align store operations with project schedules.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in store or inventory management, preferably in manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environments.
Technical Knowledge:
Familiarity with steel grades, electrical components, HVAC systems, paints, and fabrication materials.
Understanding of material preservation and storage requirements.
Experience handling customer-supplied materials.
Skills:
Proficient in inventory management software (ERP knowledge preferred).
Strong organizational, record-keeping, and multitasking skills.
Good communication and coordination abilities.
Leadership skills to manage store staff effectively.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word).
