Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen area, including dishwashing, equipment cleaning, and waste disposal. Work closely with the kitchen team to maintain a hygienic and orderly environment, contributing to the efficient operation of the kitchen and the delivery of high-quality food and service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.
2. Hand wash items as needed, ensuring thorough cleaning and sanitation.
3. Stack and store clean dishes and utensils in designated areas for easy access by kitchen staff.
4. Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, including countertops, sinks, stovetops, and floors, using appropriate cleaning agents and tools.
5. Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in accordance with sanitation guidelines.
6. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, such as ovens, grills, and refrigerators, by wiping down surfaces and removing debris.
7. Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries of food, supplies, and equipment.
8. Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and inform management when replenishment is needed.
9. Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables, portioning ingredients, and assembling food trays.
10. Transport food and supplies between storage areas and kitchen stations as needed.
11. Follow instructions from kitchen management and collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow during busy periods.
12. Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling of food, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment.
13. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves and aprons, while performing job duties.
14. Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to management immediately.
15. Performs other duties assigned.
Qualification, Experience & Knowledge
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a restaurant or food service environment.
Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques, sanitation procedures, and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen environment.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and follow instructions from supervisors.
Understanding of food hygiene practices, health and safety.
