Job Description

Main Responsibilities: -

Preparation of Fabrication Drawings

Develop detailed fabrication drawings for steel columns, beams, trusses, bracings, staircases, handrails, and other steel structures.

Include welding symbols, bolt sizes, hole locations, plate thicknesses, and material specifications.

Create part drawings, assembly drawings, and GA (General Arrangement) drawings.

Prepare material lists and cutting lists based on fabrication drawings.

Ensure material optimization and minimal wastage during fabrication.

Model steel structures using software such as Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or Advance Steel.

Generate shop drawings and NC (Numerical Control) files for cutting and drilling machines.

Coordinate with design engineers, production supervisors, and erection teams to resolve drawing or fabrication issues.

Review and update drawings according to design revisions or site feedback.

Ensure drawings comply with fabrication codes (AWS, BS EN, AISC, etc.).

Maintain drawing accuracy, revision control, and documentation as per QA/QC standards.

Prepare as-built drawings after fabrication or site installation.

Record final modifications for project handover.

Tekla Structures (most common in steel fabrication)

Advance Steel / SolidWorks / Revit Structure

MS Excel (for MTO and reports)

Skills & Knowledge Required

Strong understanding of structural steel components and connections

Knowledge of welding, bolting, and fabrication processes

Ability to read and interpret structural design drawings

Familiarity with tolerances, material grades, and fabrication standards

Attention to detail and drafting accuracy.
