Job Purpose
The Steel Fitter is responsible for fitting, assembling, and installing structural steel components according to drawings and project specifications. The role ensures accurate alignment, measurement, and installation while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, and fabrication sketches.
Fit, align, and assemble steel components such as beams, columns, frames, platforms, and supports.
Mark and measure material dimensions using measuring tools (tape, level, square, etc.).
Perform cutting, grinding, drilling, and basic welding/tack welding as required.
Ensure proper alignment and leveling of steel structures using tools like plumb lines, spirit levels, and laser levels.
Work with welders and riggers to position and secure steel pieces.
Inspect materials and report any defects or discrepancies.
Follow lifting and rigging safety practices when moving steel components.
Comply with all
HSE standards
, wear PPE, and maintain a clean work environment.
Assist in site installation, structural erection, and final adjustments.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum
2-5 years of experience
as a Steel Fitter (UAE/GCC experience preferred).
Skilled in reading structural drawings and fabrication layouts.
Experience in fitting structural steel components.
Basic welding/tack welding knowledge is an advantage.
Understanding of rigging and lifting practices.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in workshop and site environments.
