Job Description

The Medical-Surgical Nurse is responsible for delivering comprehensive and patient-centered nursing care to adults with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. The role requires proficiency in clinical assessment, IV cannulation, medication administration, and documentation using Electronic Medical Records (EMR). The nurse will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical setting, adhering to best practices and hospital protocols. Initiate and maintain IV access, perform IV cannulation with proficiency, and safely administer IV medications and fluids. Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) effectively for documentation, care planning, medication administration, and communication. Monitor and document patient progress, including vital signs, symptoms, responses to treatment, and intake/output. Prepare patients for surgical procedures and provide post-operative care, including wound monitoring and pain management. Educate patients and their families on health conditions, recovery plans, and discharge instructions. Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans. Follow infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff. Participate in training, quality improvement activities, and unit meetings as required.
Qualification /Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent qualification. Valid professional nursing license (QCHP or eligibility for licensing in Qatar). Minimum 5 years of recent experience in a medical-surgical or acute care unit. Strong hands-on experience in IV cannulation and IV medication administration. Demonstrated competence in using EMR systems for clinical documentation. BLS certification required; ACLS certification is an advantage.
