Position Summary

Internal Liaises with the Senior Technologists, Laboratory Director, Physicians and Nurses. Reports to Laboratory Director


Responsible for performance of all laboratory procedures following appropriate techniques in the section to achieve high quality results. Work and liaise with the pathologist, technologists of other lab sections, nurses and medical staff to maintain the highest professional standards Participate in training of junior staff, CME and Seminars. Work and liaise with Consultant Pathologist, Specialty Pathologist, Senior Technologists of other lab sections, nurses and medical staff to maintain the highest professional standards. Assist the Laboratory Director in the coordination of laboratory activities. Provide accurate, timely and cost-effective testing of patient samples to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease in compliance and harmony with the quality management system.

Summary of Main Duties

Actively participates in upholding and promoting the vision and culture of University Hospital Sharjah (UHS) Complies with all UHS policies and procedures, fire, Health & Safety regulations. Participates in all aspects of the International Accreditation programs, and perform the duties necessary to support and achieve accreditation. To assist UHS attain and maintain international accreditation standards. May supervise and coordinate the work activities for general technologist. Ensure proper specimen preparation for routine & special tests, procedures using both manual and automated equipment. Perform laboratory tests in the areas of analysis in laboratory section and ensure that all work is completed as promptly as possible. Maintain records of test results; operate computerized and other laboratory equipment/instruments personally complete all daily and regular instrument maintenance as required.

Responsibilities

Perform controls and maintains inventory levels and stock check of all reagents and consumables requirements in the section on a weekly basis, bi-monthly consumption reporting to lab supervisor, co-ordinate with the Materials Department for requirements and promptly inform the Laboratory Director about any problems associated with supplies equipment. Comply with the standards laid down by the Approved International Accreditation Standards and perform the duties necessary to support and achieve accreditation. Operate & conduct performance checks on all the equipment. Ensure proper processing of specimens for laboratory tests and examination, enter and forward results for verification and authentication, keeping department head informed and involved in the verification of results. Perform other special tests as directed by section pathologist. Perform other tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities as required. Position Requirements/Qualifications

A Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)


Must have a valid UAE SHA License


Minimum experience of 3 years in Hospital Multidisciplinary clinical laboratory.
