Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Irrigation Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of large-scale, sophisticated irrigation systems for high-end landscaping and agricultural projects. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert who can manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring efficiency, sustainability, and client satisfaction. This role requires a blend of deep engineering knowledge, practical field experience, and strong leadership capabilities.
Qualifications & Education

• Mandatory: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E.) or Agricultural Engineering (B.Sc.).
• A Master's degree in Irrigation Engineering, Water Resource Management, or a related field is a significant advantage.
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or equivalent international certification is highly preferred.

Experience

• 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in the design and management of irrigation systems, specifically within the landscaping industry.
• Proven track record of working on large-scale projects such as public parks, golf courses, sports fields, master-planned communities, or large agricultural farms.
• Extensive experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other specialized irrigation design software (e.g., IrriCAD, Land F/X).
• Demonstrated experience in hydraulic modeling and calculation.
• Experience in preparing technical reports, tender documents, and BOQs (Bills of Quantities).
• Prior experience in a supervisory or team leadership role is essential.

Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Engineering:

• Lead the hydraulic design and engineering of pressurized irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, central pivot, etc.) for diverse landscaping projects.
• Develop detailed technical drawings, schematics, plans, and layouts using AutoCAD and other design software.
• Perform advanced hydraulic calculations for pipe sizing, pump selection, pressure loss analysis, and valve zoning to ensure system efficiency and performance.
• Select appropriate materials, components, pumps, controllers, and sensors based on project specifications and environmental conditions.
• Integrate smart irrigation technologies, including weather-based controllers, soil moisture sensors, and central control systems.

2. Project Management:

• Manage multiple irrigation projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Prepare project specifications, cost estimates, tender documents, and BOQs.
• Liaise with clients, architects, landscape architects, contractors, and government authorities.
• Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess conditions, identify constraints, and inform the design process.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight during the installation and commissioning phases.

3. Leadership & Supervision:

• Mentor and provide technical direction to junior engineers and drafters.
• Review and approve design drawings and calculations prepared by the team.
• Lead project coordination meetings and serve as the primary technical point of contact for irrigation-related matters.

4. Water Management & Sustainability:

• Design systems that maximize water use efficiency and promote conservation.
• Develop water management plans and audit existing systems for performance and efficiency improvements.
• Stay current with local and international regulations, standards, and best practices in water conservation and irrigation.

5. Testing & Commissioning:

• Oversee and witness pressure tests, flow tests, and system calibration.
• Troubleshoot complex hydraulic and electrical issues within irrigation systems.
• Train client staff on the operation and maintenance of the installed systems.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Technical Expertise: Expert knowledge of hydraulics, pump systems, piping materials, and irrigation products.
• Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in AutoCAD (Civil 3D a plus) and irrigation-specific design software. Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, perform complex calculations, and solve problems effectively.
• Project Management: Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
• Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create clear reports and present technical information to non-technical audiences.
