We at Emarat Aloula is seeking a highly skilled and experienced

Senior Electrical Design Engineer

with a strong background in

High Voltage (HV) Substation

projects across the UAE or GCC region. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end design and engineering of

132kV/220kV substations

, ensuring compliance with local utility standards (e.g. TRANSCO, DEWA, SEWA) and international codes. This role demands a leader with a deep technical understanding, coordination ability, and a strong commitment to quality and safety in design.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and engineering of HV substations (132kV / 220kV), including layout, SLDs, protection schemes, and interface engineering. Prepare and review electrical design calculations, load flow studies, short circuit analysis, and protection coordination. Develop and finalize detailed design drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications in coordination with CAD and drafting teams. Ensure all designs meet local utility regulations and standards (e.g., TRANSCO, DEWA, SEWA, ADWEA). Review and approve vendor/subcontractor drawings and design submissions. Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and protection teams to ensure proper integration across disciplines. Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and testing/commissioning phases. Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and authorities for design reviews and approvals. Mentor junior engineers and review their work for accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's Degree is a plus) Minimum 15 years of experience in HV substation design, with at least 8 years in the UAE or GCC Proven experience in 132/220kV substation projects, preferably under TRANSCO, DEWA, SEWA, or equivalent authorities Familiar with international design codes and software such as ETAP, DIALux, AutoCAD, Revit, etc. Strong knowledge of protection systems, SCADA integration, and substation automation
