Spray Technician

Job Description
Performs chemical applications on all golf course turf areas and fertilizes tees, greens and fairways. The Turf Inputs Technician is responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), as well as other pertinent information that contributes to an acute understanding of input effects on turf. This position is also responsible for compiling preliminary reports and assisting the Golf Course Superintendent in inventory management of pesticide usage. Requirements:
- Expert-level proficiency in operating sprayers and spreaders.
- Ability and willingness to train staff to achieve high levels of application proficiency.
- Ability to read and interpret product labels.
- Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with chemical application equipment
- Proficient in safe mechanical operation and calibration of mechanically pressurized spray equipment, hand-operated spray equipment, hand- operated rotary and drop spreaders and utility tractors.
- Completion of any local or national training or certification requirements.
- Must be self-motivated and possess a proactive mindset.
- Prefer one (1)-year certificate from college or technical school, or one-plus year\xe2\x80\x99s related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Appropriate oral and written communication skills
- Required to work on the outside for long periods of time to perform his/her duties.
- Required to perform manual labour activities.
- Reasonable physical strength, stamina and agility.
- Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment.
- Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state and federal regulationsand is responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and or helpers.
- Keep MSDS books current.
- Manage inventory and usage of applications, pesticides, and fertilizers.
- Develops/works with Assistants for pesticide programs.
- Operate spreader or sprayer to complete assigned chemical/fertilizer application and follow the SOP assuperintendent required.
- Be able to check inventory and the whole year chemical/fertilizer plan and inform superintendent when some product is going to be used out.
- Perform other duties as an operator.
