Job Description

Job Summary:
A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), commonly referred to as a Speech Therapist, assesses, diagnoses, and treats communication and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages. They work with individuals who have speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive-communication, or swallowing difficulties due to developmental delays, injuries, illnesses, or neurological conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment & Diagnosis:

• Conduct screenings and evaluations to identify speech, language, voice, fluency, or swallowing disorders.
• Review medical histories and collaborate with physicians, psychologists, teachers, and other professionals.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and goals.

Treatment & Therapy:

• Provide one-on-one or group therapy sessions to improve speech, language, and communication skills.
• Help patients with articulation, fluency, voice modulation, and language development.
• Assist individuals with cognitive-communication disorders (e.g., memory, problem-solving).
• Work with patients who have swallowing disorders (dysphagia) to improve feeding and safety.
• Use alternative communication methods (AAC) for nonverbal patients.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of patient progress, treatment plans, and evaluations.
• Prepare reports for schools, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, IDEA).

Collaboration & Education:

• Educate family members and caregivers on therapy techniques and home exercises.
• Work with teachers to implement speech and language strategies in educational settings.
• Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings for school-based SLPs.
