Evaluation and Assessment:



Administer standardized tests, observe children, and collect relevant information from caregivers, teachers, and other professionals. Assessment skills to include knowledge and previous experience to use standardized tools for formal testing of oral motor functioning, swallowing, articulation, fluency and receptive/expressive/pragmatic forms of language. Analyze assessment results and develop individualized treatment plans. Ensure the physical and emotional safety of beneficiaries during therapy sessions and related activities.

Treatment Planning and Intervention:



Create personalized treatment plans based on the assessment findings, child's needs, and goals. Utilize evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques to address speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Provide intervention sessions individually or in group settings, focusing on improving communication skills, articulation, language comprehension, expression, and the social use of language. Incorporate augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods for individuals with severe communication impairments. Help children develop proper swallowing techniques and manage swallowing difficulties (dysphagia). Identify potential risks associated with communication or swallowing and implement strategies to minimize these risks.

Therapy Implementation and Monitoring:



Deliver therapy sessions in a supportive and engaging manner, adapting techniques to suit the individual needs and abilities of each child. Teach children exercises and strategies to improve speech clarity, vocal quality, and fluency. Facilitate language development by targeting areas such as vocabulary, grammar, and social communication skills. Employ assistive technologies and communication devices as needed. Prepare Home Programs. Work on extending the therapeutic approach to other settings. A home program is expected to each child to augment therapy gains and maintain consistency in reinforcing targeted skills. Monitor progress regularly, modify treatment plans when necessary, and provide feedback to parents, families, and other involved professionals.

Collaboration and Communication:



Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, psychologists, educators, and occupational therapists, to provide comprehensive care. Communicate effectively with parents, families, and caregivers, providing education, support, and guidance on communication strategies and techniques. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and multidisciplinary assessments to discuss child's progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Provide training and resources to individuals and groups involved in the care of patients with communication disorders. Educate beneficiaries and their families about safe practices, including strategies to manage swallowing disorders and effective communication techniques.

Documentation and Record Keeping:



Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and other relevant documentation. Follow ethical and legal guidelines regarding patient confidentiality and data protection. Prepare reports for insurance purposes, educational institutions, and other relevant stakeholders. Document and report any safety concerns, incidents, or changes in beneficiaries' conditions in compliance with organizational policies and UAE regulations.

Professional Development:



Stay updated with the latest research, advancements, and best practices in the field of speech and language therapy. Attend professional development opportunities, conferences, workshops, and seminars to enhance knowledge and skills. Obtain necessary continuing education credits and licenses to meet regulatory requirements.

Beneficiary Safety:



Collaborate with other healthcare professionals such as therapists, social workers and primary care physicians to ensure integrated and holistic care for clients. Maintain accurate and confidential client record in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications:



A master's or bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology or communication disorders. Attested Degree certification as a speech and language therapist, with Certificate Equivalency. Knowledge of communication disorders, speech production, language development, and swallowing disorders. Strong assessment and diagnostic skills. Proficient in designing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with patients and their families. Collaboration and teamwork abilities. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Proficient computer and technology skills for documentation and therapy tools.
