- Performing complex surgery to repair heart and other cardiovascular system conditions
- Carrying out preoperative assessment and postoperative follow-up
- Prescribing medication and providing counselling to patients and their families
- Developing and implementing treatment plans
- Keeping up to date with developments in the field and participating in research activities
- A medical degree and successful completion of specialist training in cardiac surgery
- Excellent technical, manual and organizational skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
