Specific Responsibilities for this Role

  • Comply with the rules, regulations and procedures of practicing the Profession, as per his/her grade and Specialty.
  • Issue written instructions to technologists in relation to methods and means of execution and improvement of x-ray examinations and all Imaging studies.
  • Issue list of requirements for special investigations, determine and organize all precautions for possible complications.
  • Inspect x-ray requests in respect to adequacy and coordinate with corresponding specialists with the aim of reducing unnecessary patient radiation.
  • Design on basis of evaluation of staff performance and in connection with latest international standards, training, qualification plans of radiologists and technologists.
  • Organize activities of keeping staff informed about latest developments of technique and technology, lectures, etc.
  • Interprets all types of general radiological examinations. Interprets and performs those requiring fluoroscopy, special procedures, angiography, ultrasound, radioisotopes, CT, and MRI scanning within the limits of his/her training, experience, and clinical privileges, and with the approval of the Chief of Radiology
  • Responsible to work with the technologists and when appropriate to instruct the technologists in specialized views and positioning of patients when unusual or difficult problems arise. Participates in the Quality Improvement Program of the hospital to meet international standards.
  • Continuous evaluation of all imaging and radiographic equipment's in respect to reliability of quality assurance and propose restructuring and development.
  • Participation for committees for selection of new equipment.
  • Undertaking any diagnostic imaging procedure within the realms of his/her experience and training in his/her sub specialist field.
  • Providing written consultation reports for each study he / she undertakes, which will include the main and differential diagnoses.
  • Recommending any additional study as may be required.
  • Directly or indirectly responsible for the administration of any intravenous contrast media given within the service.
  • Active participation in the quality assurance activities.
  • Develops internal standards and policies of services provided within the department in conformity with the standards, policies rules and regulations.
  • Together with the departments designated radiation safety officer, shall ensure that all clinical practice relating to the use of ionizing radiations for diagnostic and invasive procedures shall be in accord with local rule.
  • Supervises the clinical output of the technologists within the computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging services.
  • Provides on-call emergency coverage
  • Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the HOD.
Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems
  • Comply with reasonable OSH instructions, policies and safe working procedures
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
  • Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
  • Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone's health and safety
  • Assist with the preparation of risk assessments
  • Report OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycling of waste as much as possible
  • Attend all OSH Trainings, awareness programs and mock drills.
  • Participates in the OSHMS audits, inspections, ensuring standards are maintained
Prevention and Control of Infection (PCI):
  • PCI is everyone's responsibility. All staff are required to read and implement the NMC PCI Policy and Strategy in an effort to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness at all times, thus reducing the risk of infection in patients, staff and visitors.
  • The strictest hand hygiene, 5 moments of hand hygiene, bare below the elbows and environmental care, will be expected of all staff, including the post holder, at all times

Qualifications:
At least 3 - 5 years' post qualification experience at Specialist level (independent of country)
At least 1 year Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by relevant UAE healthcare authority. Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
