Clinical activities: * Performs the professional duties of a pediatrician / neonatologist.
Responsible for assessment and reassessment of patients.
To perform his duties in the Pediatric Outpatient Clinic evaluating patients on a daily basis.
Performs general or special examinations and other procedures covering the full scope of the field of neonatology/pediatrics. Orders laboratory examinations and x-rays, determines diagnosis, prescribes nursing and dietary care necessary, orders or applies such preventive measures as required.
Will serve as first on call for all the patients under Neonatology service and will provide consultation (as and when needed) to other specialty patients pediatric Surgery and OB/Gyn for in- and out-patients as assigned and/or required.
Provides onsite in-patient care to the admitted newborn and attends delivery or cesarean section deliveries as per the duty roster working in shift pattern which may include day or night shifts.
Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder\'s specialty
Serves as a specialist in pediatrics and neonatology providing consultative services to the other Medical Services. Provides technical assistance with pediatric and neonatal patients.
Provides on-call emergency coverage for pediatric and neonatology.
Assess risk, report incidents and to participate in Risk Management processes.
Review with senior staff, adverse events, problem incident and complaints and explore all opportunities to improve the quality of care and provide recommendations in regard to risk management
Fulfills professional requirements for continuing maintenance of competence in all aspects of pediatric & neonatal medicine.
Carry out other assigned duties within the appropriate scope of knowledge, skills and abilities of pediatric & neonatal positions.
Administrative activities: * Ensures proper record keeping.
Attends committee meetings when so assigned by the Head of department.
Involved in development of International level guidelines protocols along with senior staff to standardize and improve quality of service provided.
Follows standard policies and procedures as required by HAAD, JCI, ISO, OSHMS and other regulatory bodies.
Participates in scheduled in-service training programs, CMEs, divisional teaching activities, the regular physicians\' conference or other committees as requested.
Participate in improvement initiates within the department
Handle complaints in an amicable manner when necessary
Foster interdepartmental liaison in order to ensure maintenance of established level of Service Agreements.
Aware of hospital fire policy and emergency procedures.
Participate in a quality assurance program for the pediatric & neonatal services and help develop and monitor clinical and other established indicators
Documents all care provided and education/information given to patients within their medical health record, as per professional and practice standards / protocols.
Provide and be able to lead effective pediatric resuscitation.
Reviews journals, texts or periodicals in order to keep current on latest techniques, procedures, drugs and therapy.
