The Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon is responsible for diagnosing and treating complex conditions, diseases, and injuries affecting the mouth, jaws, face, and neck. The surgeon performs surgical procedures such as extractions, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma management, and reconstructive surgeries, ensuring high standards of patient care, safety, and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed patient assessments, review medical histories, and diagnose oral and maxillofacial conditions.
Perform surgeries related to:
Facial trauma (fractures of the jaw, cheekbones, orbital bones)
Pathology (cysts, tumors)
Dental implants and bone grafting
Orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery
TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders
Dentoalveolar surgery (wisdom teeth removal, impacted teeth)
Reconstructive and aesthetic facial procedures
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including orthodontists, ENT specialists, oncologists, and anesthesiologists.
Monitor post-operative progress and manage complications if any.
Maintain accurate patient records and comply with documentation and reporting standards.
Stay updated with latest techniques, equipment, and technologies in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Educate patients about pre-operative and post-operative care and overall oral health.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and infection control protocols.
