Provides attending physician services to patients to diagnose and treat diseases and injuries of human internal organ systems, according to approved procedures as part of an integrated program of curative and preventive services
Responsibilities:
3.1 Ensures Performs Responsible for hospitalized cases and certain out-patients whose disease requires medical
care at the specialist level.
3.2 Admission and work-up of all medical patients to medical wards, ICU and CCU as required.
3.3 These patients remain the responsibility of the admitting internist from the time of admission to the date of
discharge.
3.4 Day-to-day care for these patients may be assigned to the ward physicians; however, the ultimate responsibility
remains with the admitting internist
3.5 Conducts out-patient medical consultations in the clinics by appointment and follow-up on medical problems
as needed.
3.6 After working hours, when on-call, is available for answering medical consultations by physicians in other
departments, in the intensive care areas, medical wards, ER, and other in- patient services.
3.7 Will serve as a major contributor to in-service training activities of the new employees.
3.8 Works under the general professional supervision of the Head Internist.
3.9 Performs the professional duties of an internist in adherence to the Delineation of Privileges maintained by the
Internal Medicine department for individual internists. Privileges may differ between individual internists,
depending on the efficiency and skills of the particular individual.
3.10 Answers in-patient consultations from medical or other in-patient services.
3.11 Participates in the reading of EKG's. Performs lung function studies and makes interpretations when needed.
3.12 Administers Executive Health Program examinations on a regular basis.
3.13 Participates in in-service death review; chart, Quality Assurance and peer reviews.
3.14 Participates in the monthly Internal Medicine service Journal activity, and as assigned other committee functions
such as the ER, Infection Review, Standardization, ICU, CCU and CPR.
3.15 Strictly observes organization's medical regulations and policies especially those related to infection control,
patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
3.16 Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the Head of Internal Medicine.
3.17 Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital
management to comply those requirements
3.18 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
3.19 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
3.20 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk
assessments, incident reports
3.21 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
3.22 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
3.23 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
Qualifications:
4.1 Graduation from an approved school of medicine, plus one year of internship.
4.2 Three years of residency in Internal Medicine with special training in one of the major sub- specialties such as
cardiology or gastroenterology preferred. Culminating in procuring a Post-Graduate Master's degree and/or
equivalent Fellowships approved by HAAD.
4.3 In possession of valid license by HAAD (Health Authority Abu Dhabi) to practice.
4.4 At least three years' practice in the field of Internal Medicine.
4.5 Excellent oral and written English.
