Job Description

Who You'll Work With

You will be based in one of our global office in North America, Latin America, Europe or the Middle East as part of our Global Social Responsibility team.
You’ll work with the firm’s Global Social Responsibility (GSR) cell which oversees social responsibility and environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy and integration for McKinsey. You’ll be shaping the firm’s ESG aspirations, operationalizing and overseeing major actions, and reporting on achievements. GSR/ESG has direct responsibility for the teams that oversee environmental sustainability, giving back and ESG reporting for the firm. We will work hand in hand with distributed firm leaders and teams that also contribute to fulfilling our ESG and social responsibility commitments.
You’ll play a critical role in shaping clear and compelling communications about our social and environmental responsibility practices with internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on clients and other external groups. You will serve as a central global point of contact for client requests about our environmental, ESG practices and work with client service teams, functional and other leaders from across the firm to ensure our messages reflect our latest activities and support McKinsey's broader value proposition. You play a central role in understanding the emerging ESG landscape, and help identify, shape, and coordinate opportunities for McKinsey to improve its ESG practices and build credibility and reputation in the social responsibility space. This is an exciting opportunity to combine strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a passion for social and client impact, along with a flair for communications.
You will report to the manager, ESG client requests and reporting, and are a key member of our Acting Responsibly (AR) team within Global Social Responsibility. You will work closely with colleagues across GSR as well as across other cells and functions including Reach and Engage, All in Diversity and Inclusion, and Risk and Optimize.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for ensuring compelling and clear communications to clients about our social responsibility and environmental, social and governance practices.
In this role, you will also serve as "first alert" for requests from client service teams, legal and others related to our ESGs and track, manage and catalogue requests. You’ll analyze the changing nature and landscape in client-focused topics to identify trends and implications to improve our positioning practices. You’ll manage and improve the library of client response materials, working across functional groups to ensure they reflect latest practice and best positioning of our ESG efforts on McKinsey's broader value proposition, while providing bespoke messaging on an ad hoc basis for client service teams on high priority letters of proposals and discussions. You’ll identify and help shape opportunities to build credibility and reputation in the social responsibility space.
You will be responsible for supporting the firm’s ESG and social responsibility external reporting by supporting the annual social responsibility reporting process (e.g., GRI indices, materiality). You’ll track and organize a pipeline of top external ESG certifications/commitments of interest to clients, other critical stakeholders’ ratings, rankings and awards, support submissions as needed, and perform competitive analysis/benchmarking of peers and others on identified high-priority topics (e.g., community engagement, diversity).
You will improve our library of resources and channels available to internal and external stakeholders by maintaining a catalogue of internal GSR primers. You’ll update the intranet as needed and coordinate with the web team on McKinsey.com updates for social responsibility.
