Location: Sharjah, United Arab Emirates
Reporting To: Head Chef / Executive Chef
Position Summary
The Sous Chef is a pivotal leadership role within our kitchen brigade, serving as the second-in-command to the Head Chef. You will be instrumental in managing daily kitchen operations, supervising staff, and ensuring every dish meets our exacting standards of quality, consistency, and presentation. The ideal candidate is a creative, organized, and resilient leader with a deep passion for the culinary arts and a commitment to mentoring a team.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations & Management:

  • Assist the Head Chef in leading and managing all aspects of the kitchen, including preparation, cooking, and presentation of food.
  • Ensure efficient and smooth kitchen operations during service periods.
  • Oversee kitchen inventory, stock control, and ordering to minimize waste and maintain cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation standards (HACCP).
Food Quality & Menu Development:
  • Uphold the highest standards of food quality, taste, and visual presentation across all dishes.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef in developing new menu items, seasonal specials, and creative dishes.
  • Conduct regular quality checks of ingredients and finished plates.
Team Leadership & Training:
  • Supervise, train, and motivate junior cooks and kitchen staff.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance team environment.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure clear communication between all kitchen stations.
Administrative Duties:
  • Assist in managing kitchen budgets, food costs, and labor costs.
  • Help maintain kitchen schedules, timekeeping, and performance reviews for team members.
  • Contribute to maintaining kitchen records, including recipe manuals and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Culinary Degree or equivalent certification from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Sous Chef role or similar senior culinary position, preferably within a high-volume, fine-dining, or upscale hotel environment.
  • Proven experience in Middle Eastern and international cuisines is highly desirable.

  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail regarding food quality, portioning, and presentation.
  • Creativity & Innovation: A passion for culinary trends and a creative approach to menu development.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to think quickly and resolve issues efficiently during service.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic or other languages is a plus.
