Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for both continental breakfast and Asian cuisine.
The Sous Chef will work closely to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen, uphold high standards of food quality, and contribute to menu development. Creative in terms of buffet display and menu items.
Responsibilities:
Assist in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating. Should be creative in terms of the buffet display, menu etc.
Take a lead role in the preparation of both continental and Asian dishes.
Assist in cost control measures, including portion control, waste reduction, and inventory management.
Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, following all sanitation and food safety guidelines.
Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
Demonstrate creativity and flexibility in adapting dishes to meet the preferences and dietary restrictions of guests.
Provide leadership and support to kitchen team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Stay updated on current culinary trends and techniques, continually seeking opportunities for professional development.
Qualifications:
2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in morning breakfast buffet operations
A passion for both continental and Asian culinary traditions, with experience working with a diverse range of ingredients and flavors.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire kitchen staff.
Excellent organizational abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a focus on maintaining high standards of food quality.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Culinary degree or certification from a recognized culinary institution preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
