- Job Purpose

> The Sonographer is responsible to assist the medical professionals by performing an Ultrasound required for patient's diagnosis and treatment.
> The Sonographer is responsible to strictly complies comply and implement the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) and Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH) standards in direct coordination with the Radiographer and Radiation Protection Officer and other Healthcare Team Members.
- Primary Duties & Responsibilities

> Coordinate with the Customer Service Staff and/or Reception team regarding the schedule or appointment to assist patients for any preparation prior to Ultrasound procedures.
> Prepares patient for Ultrasound procedure by following the proper positioning of the patient and setting of the equipment controls and established standards and procedures to ensure and maintain proper Sonographic results.
> Safely utilize the ultrasound machine to perform the required diagnostic imaging.
> Deliver a quality Sonographic procedure and/or services to patients in accordance with the authorized doctors request along with providing proper explanations on the relevant procedures and patients inquiries to gain patient's cooperation and trust.
> Ensure that appropriate application of gel to skin and positioning of the patients are observed to obtain clear images for diagnostic purposes and adjusting the sonographic equipment when necessary.
> Responsible to select and examine ultrasound images and determine if the scope of the exam should be extended, based on preliminary findings, and present the sonograms and preliminary findings to the ordering Doctors.
> Ensure to protect patients and employees by adhering to infection prevention and control policies and protocols and relevant radiation safety protections.
> Send patient images and request forms electronically to Radiologist to be reviewed and reported on. Employee Name: Employee No.: Position: Department: Company: Location: Reports To: Subordinate Staff:
> Receive Ultrasound reports electronically from Radiologist and collate them and send to the referring doctors.
> Responsible to completely document and record the sonographic services provided to the patients.
> Perform weekly and monthly statistics as required by the Radiology Department.
> Ensure patient studies and patient reports are backed up on monthly basis.
> Notify the Radiation Protection Officer for any radiation and safety protection problems encountered in the department.
> Assist the Radiation Protection Officer and Safety Committee in the implementation and monitoring of the Radiation Safety and Protection Program.
> Maintains required technical and professional knowledge and competency by attending or participate in educational workshops and/or continuous In- Service Training Program relevant to the designated role as per the scheduled.
> Operate within the context of the Radiology Department Plan in designated role, or in other roles as directed by Head of Department.
> Carry out or directly supervise contingency plans in the event of an accident or incident.
> Responsible to ensure the operation and safety of Ultrasound equipment by adherence with the preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions on its usage handling, troubleshooting, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, etc. Monitoring and inventory of all sonographic supplies and submit purchasing requests to maintain proper and required supply levels.
> Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with the facility procedures, rules, and regulations.
> Process the Registration, Re-Registration, Decommissioning, and Safety Checks of Ultrasound equipment in coordination with the Radiation Protection Officer (RPO).
> Perform other duties as directed by the Radiologist and/or Head of Department. Administration
> Strictly comply with the Company's Work Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct.
> Understand and ensure correct implementation of systems used by the organization (e.g. Human Resource Management System (HRMS), Data Management System (DMS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), etc.) Quality Management
> Involvement in the development, review, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Quality Management System and other related compliance, assurance, and quality improvement activities of the organization. Regulatory Requirements
> Responsible to ensure full compliance with the applicable laws and regulations required by related governmental agencies, authorities, and organization both local and international e. g. MOHRE, DOH, FANR, etc.
- Professional & Academic Qualifications, Experience and Licenses

> Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound or Sonography (Minimum three (3) years course duration)
> Associate Degree in Sonography (Minimum two (2) years course duration and Registration/certification or accreditation as Radiographer and/or Sonographer
> Bachelor's Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution in Radiography /Radiology Technology or Medical Imaging (Minimum three (3) years course duration) and Post primary Certificate or Diploma Degree (Minimum twelve (12) months course duration) in Diagnostic Ultrasound
> Eligible for or holding a current UAE License as Radiographer and/or Sonographer
> Additional related certifications/licenses especially on relevant Diagnostic Ultrasound 4. Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
> Manage all aspects of Radiographer/Sonographer duties.
> Use of Radiologic, Ultrasonologic, Medical and Technologies.
> Demonstrated experience in ensuring patient care and safety in Radiology setting.
> Demonstrated teamwork effectively and good working relationship in a multi-cultural environment.
> Critical thinking and creative problem solving.
> Good organizational skills and strong work ethics.
> BLS certified
