Responsibilities

Design and deliver engaging lessons in history, geography, civics, economics, and culture based on standards like the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) and state-specific frameworks (e.g., Common Core or local DOE standards).+ Adapt materials for diverse learning styles and English Language Learners (ELLs).
+ Use inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and critical thinking exercises to foster understanding.

2. Assessment & Feedback+ Create and administer formative and summative assessments (quizzes, tests, projects, essays).
+ Provide timely, constructive feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
+ Use data to differentiate instruction and support student growth.

3. Classroom Management+ Establish a positive, inclusive classroom environment promoting respect and civic responsibility.
+ Enforce classroom rules and routines consistently.
+ Support social-emotional learning by encouraging respectful dialogue, empathy, and collaboration.

4. Professional Duties+ Attend and contribute to faculty meetings, professional development, and curriculum planning sessions.
+ Communicate regularly with parents/guardians via email, conferences, or platforms like PowerSchool or Google Classroom.
+ Collaborate with colleagues across subjects to integrate learning (e.g., connecting literature and history topics).

5. Technology Integration+ Use educational technology tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Nearpod, Kahoot!, Edpuzzle) to enhance learning.
+ Assign and manage digital assignments responsibly, ensuring digital citizenship is practiced.

6. Additional Responsibilities+ Sponsor or support extracurricular activities such as Model UN, History Day, or student government.
+ Stay updated on current events to relate classroom content to real-world issues.
+ Possibly teach cross-disciplinary units that involve language arts, economics, or global issues.
