Role Purpose:

The Senior Manager – Corporate Communications is responsible for implementing the corporate affairs and communication strategy for Majid Al Futtaim Retail externally and shape the desired reputation for the corporate entity across all the markets Carrefour operates in. Role also oversees the Consumer and Hub Communications managers and team member outcomes.
Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Develop and execute a corporate communications strategy and annual action plan – while ensuring alignment from key leaders and internal clients from both Majid Al Futtaim Retail and Majid Al Futtaim Holding Corporate Communications.
  • Oversees the ongoing progress and execution of the strategy, leads its engagements, evaluates measures and reports the results, including executive engagements of N-1 leadership.
  • Ensure adherence of Majid Al Futtaim Retail’s corporate communication strategy with the group’s corporate communications strategy, objectives, guidelines, policies & processes.
  • Ensure the cascade of the Majid Al Futtaim Retail’s corporate communications strategy and thought leadership positioning in the local markets’ communications plans and strategies
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with top tier regional and international media as well as trade and industry platforms
  • Work with the company’s leadership and MarCom teams to achieve organizational goals and objectives through communications and public relations initiatives that are in-line with the corporate communications strategy.
  • Accordingly develop and execute a corporate communications plan that engages all key corporate stakeholders across key markets including relevant business, trade and government bodies
  • Provide communications counsel, training and expertise to company leadership for public speeches, events and conferences ensuring consistency in messages, tone of voice and compliance with the corporate communications policies.
  • Lead on all regional communications announcements and corporate events at Majid Al Futtaim Retail
  • Manage and oversee the company’s thought leadership engagements, media relations and communication activities. Develop, and oversee varied and integrated thought leadership communications across all channels including print, digital, TV, internal, etc. according to the spokespeople matrix where appropriate and relevant
  • Oversee company corporate communications content and deliverables from concept through execution, including, but not limited to executive presentations/speeches, talking points and executive correspondences. Serve as executive and final editor for the development, production and maintenance of external corporate communication assets and collateral.
  • Develop a Retail Speakers Bureau for expert commentary and industry engagements: including identification of content pillars; building and executing an engagement strategy and plan; nominating and training speakers; coaching and briefing them ahead of participations
  • Support communications colleagues in crisis and issue management, leading in situations that impacts the company’s reputation regionally
  • Engage, manage and lead the corporate communications agency’s (as required day-to-day or weekly basis) activities and relationship and conduct a periodic reviews and audits.
  • Provide the corporate communications performance reports to management and conduct continuous reviews and assessments
  • Manage and oversee the Consumer Communications (Carrefour customer communications strategy) and Hub Communications (communications centre of excellence, performance manager and reporting) team members, including their outcomes
Human Capital Responsibilities:
  • Provide mentorship to communications managers for the purpose of developing corporate communications capabilities in the markets and a continuous talent pipeline for key roles
  • Oversee Consumer and Hub Communications team members, including setting their objectives, aligning on their strategies and scope, as well as performance management and mentorship.
  • Identify relevant training needs and coordinate with the HC department to ensure facilitation of training requirements among communications managers in the markets

Qualification, Experience & Skills:

Minimum Qualifications/education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Public Relations of Marketing
Minimum experience
  • A minimum of 10+ years relevant, demonstrated experience / proven track record in a similar role focused on corporate communications
  • Relevant experience working with retail / consumer goods industry / multinational or technology companies
  • Communications agency or news media journalism experience

  • Enthusiastic self-starter with well-developed administrative, organizational and self-management skills
