Review IFC drawings, shop drawings, erection drawings, connection details, and method statements prior to execution.
Plan erection methodology and sequencing in coordination with project planning and fabrication teams.
Supervise erection of columns, beams, rafters, trusses, bracings, purlins, platforms, staircases, handrails, and secondary steel works.
Ensure proper alignment, plumbness, level, camber, and tolerances as per project specifications.
Monitor bolt installation, torque tightening, and welding works in accordance with approved procedures.
Verify correct use of high-strength bolts, washers, and welding consumables.
Coordinate crane positioning, lifting studies, rigging activities, and erection equipment.
Ensure erection activities follow approved lifting plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
Identify drawing discrepancies and raise RFIs to engineering/consultant teams.
Support trial erections, mock-ups, and sample inspections when required.
2. Site Management & Coordination
Manage subcontractors, foremen, riggers, welders, fitters, and helpers.
Allocate daily tasks and monitor manpower productivity.
Coordinate with QA/QC, Safety, Planning, Procurement, and Fabrication departments.
Liaise with consultants, clients, and third-party inspectors.
Ensure proper material handling, storage, and traceability at site.
Monitor site progress against project baseline schedule.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
Support recovery plans in case of delays.
3. Quality Control
Ensure erection works comply with project specifications, drawings, and international standards.
Support inspection requests for alignment, bolt tightening, welding, and structural stability.
Rectify NCRs and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain inspection records, checklists, and as-built documentation.
Coordinate with QA/QC for final handover documentation.
4. Health, Safety & Environment
Enforce strict compliance with HSE policies and project safety plans.
Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Ensure safe working practices for work at height, lifting operations, scaffolding, and access platforms.
Monitor use of PPE and fall protection systems.
Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement control measures.
Stop unsafe works and report incidents immediately.
5. Planning, Cost & Control Support
Assist Project Manager in preparing erection schedules and look-ahead programs.
Monitor resource utilization and productivity.
Support cost control by minimizing rework and material wastage.
Assist in preparation of variation records and claims documentation.
Coordinate with procurement for material delivery priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Minimum 5 to 8 years of GCC experience in steel structure erection projects.
Experience in industrial buildings, warehouses, PEB structures, oil & gas sheds, and commercial steel projects.
Strong exposure to crane operations, lifting studies, and erection sequencing.
MS Word, Excel, Outlook
AutoCAD (drawing viewing and basic measurement)
Primavera / MS Project (basic understanding preferred)
