Oversee and manage the construction activities on-site, ensuring work is done according to plans, specifications, and approved schedules.
Supervise construction workers, subcontractors, and other site personnel.
Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and other legal requirements.
Quality Control:
Conduct inspections of materials and workmanship on-site to ensure high-quality standards.
Verify that construction activities align with the approved engineering drawings and specifications.
Maintain quality assurance practices and address any issues that arise on-site.
Project Coordination:
Coordinate with other engineers, architects, and construction managers to ensure the smooth execution of the project.
Ensure that materials, equipment, and labor are available as needed for the timely completion of tasks.
Communicate with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and suppliers, to keep the project on track.
Site Safety Management:
Ensure that workers adhere to health and safety regulations, including wearing proper protective equipment.
Problem Solving:
Address any issues or challenges that arise on-site, including technical, logistical, or operational problems.
Collaborate with the design team to resolve any discrepancies between design plans and site conditions.
Surveying and Site Layout:
Conduct surveys and measurements to ensure that the site is prepared correctly for construction.
Assist in the layout of structures and ensure the proper positioning of buildings, roads, and other infrastructure elements.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of all construction activities, including daily reports, inspection logs, and material certifications.
Ensure that all necessary documentation is filed for compliance purposes and future reference.
Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
Proven experience as a Civil Engineer, with at least a 2 years in a construction site management role.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in quantity surveying construction methods, materials, and engineering designs. Knowledge of relevant software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project).
Communication Skills:
Strong ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to resolve issues quickly and efficiently, especially when unexpected challenges arise.
Leadership:
Capability to lead teams and manage multiple tasks at once, ensuring timely and quality delivery of work.
Working Conditions:
Site-based, often in construction zones which may be noisy and physically demanding.
May involve working in various weather conditions, depending on the project location.
