Responsibilities
Reading & Interpreting Plans
: Understand construction drawings and blueprints to determine the type, size, and placement of formwork needed.
Formwork Construction
: Measure, cut, and shape wood, plywood, and other materials to create the temporary forms for concrete.
Assembly & Installation
: Assemble the cut materials using nails, bolts, and other fasteners to construct the formwork and then install it on-site.
Alignment & Securing
: Ensure the formwork is accurately aligned, leveled, and properly supported with props and ties to hold it in place during concrete pouring.
Dismantling
: Remove the formwork after the concrete has set, carefully avoiding damage to the newly formed concrete structure.
Maintenance
: Keep tools and equipment in good working condition and ensure they are cleaned for reuse.
Safety
: Adhere to all site safety regulations and maintain a clean, safe worksite to prevent accidents.
Collaboration
: Work effectively with other construction team members and follow instructions from supervisors or foremen.
Skills & Qualifications
Experience
: Proven experience as a shuttering carpenter.
Technical Skills
: Proficiency in reading construction blueprints and using carpentry tools.
Physical Dexterity
: Ability to lift, carry, and assemble materials and formwork efficiently.
