Master (Yachts) 500 GT / 3000 GT Certificate of Competency or equivalent
Extensive sea experience, with prior command experience on yachts or commercial vessels
Minimum 5-10 years in yacht operations, testing, or commissioning roles
Strong knowledge of vessel systems: propulsion, electrical, navigation, and safety
Experience working with shipyards, classification societies, and flag state authorities
Proven track record of vessel handling, testing, and troubleshooting
Key Responsibilities
Sea Trials, Vessel Testing, Events
Command the yacht during sea trials, ensuring safe navigation, operation and safety of the yacht(s)
Develop and implement voyage plans, ensuring efficiency and compliance with international maritime laws and local regulations
Conduct comprehensive testing of propulsion, maneuvering, navigation, safety, and onboard systems
Verify vessel performance against design specifications, class requirements, and manufacturer standards
Identify, record, and report technical issues, malfunctions, or deficiencies
Support warranty and commissioning processes as required
Safety & Compliance
Ensuring all testing activities comply with international maritime regulations, class rules, and flag state requirements
Implement and follow safety procedures during sea trials, including drills and emergency readiness
Ensure vessels are always operated within design and regulatory limitations
Reporting & Documentation
Produce detailed sea trial reports covering vessel performance, handling, and system operations
Provide structured feedback to engineering, production, and quality teams
Assist in developing operational manuals, safety procedures, and client handover documentation
Technical & Operational Support
Collaborate with naval architects, engineers, and technicians during trial preparation and follow-up.
Support factory acceptance tests, classification society inspections, and flag state surveys
Provide input into product development, highlighting operational or design improvements
Oversee the upkeep of launched stock vessels, ensuring regular cleaning and preventative maintenance are carried out to the highest standard
Assist in client demonstrations, showcasing vessel handling and performance
Provide mentorship and training to crew members and junior captains, fostering professional development and operational excellence within the company
Leadership & Representation
Act as a professional representative of the manufacturer during sea trials, surveys, and client visits
Lead crew and support personnel during trials and events ensuring professionalism and coordination
Maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies, classification societies, and client representatives.
