Position Overview:

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive SHEQ Manager to oversee and drive the safety, health, environment, and quality management systems within Smit Lamnalco\'s operations in the region Middle East and Sub-Indian Continent (MEIS), based in Sharjah. The SHEQ Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with international standards, promoting a safety-first culture, and implementing best practices to minimize risk and enhance operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement SHEQ policies, procedures, and strategies in alignment with company objectives and industry standards.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures.
• Collaborate with operational teams to promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.
• Monitor compliance with local regulations, international standards, and industry-specific requirements.
• Provide SHEQ training and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
• Lead SHEQ performance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage emergency response plans and ensure readiness for critical situations.
• Interface with relevant authorities and agencies on SHEQ matters.
• Act as the point of contact for client inquiries and audits related to SHEQ.
• Stay updated on emerging trends, regulations, and technologies in the SHEQ field.

You will report to the Group Manager SHEQ in the Netherlands and functionally to the Regional Managing Director.

Qualifications

Job requirements:

• Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Occupational Health & Safety, Quality Management).
• Proven experience in a similar SHEQ role within the maritime, oil & gas, or related industries.
• Seagoing experience is considered an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of international SHEQ standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISM and ISPS.
• Good communicator and bridge-builder, able to set and maintain high standards.
• Team player with a collaborative approach and able to engage and partner at all organizational levels.
• Influencing and training skills.
• Problem-solving and analytical experience.
• Experience with behavioral safety programs.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Fluent in English (verbally and in written) is a must.
• Certification in SHEQ-related disciplines is a plus. eg auditor.
