JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sheetmetal Technician performs duties of structural repair and modification to CH-47 aircraft.
Duties/responsibilities:

• Performs inspections, repairs, and replacement of aircraft structural components to include stringers, longerons, bulkheads, beams and aircraft skin according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures.
• Fabricates structural parts and forming blocks.
• Shapes metal using stretching, shrinking, and other metal forming techniques.
• Mixes and applies fiberglass materials.
• Makes unscheduled emergency and permanent repairs to transparent plastic windows and enclosures.
• Uses the following; common measuring tools, precision measuring gages and alignment fixtures to perform structural repairs.
• Mixes and applies primers and paints to aircraft surfaces.
• Applies corrosion control treatment to aircraft metals.
• Requisitions and maintains shop and bench stock items for repair of aircraft structures.
• Uses and performs operator maintenance on common special tools.
• Prepares, reviews, and updates aircraft maintenance forms and records.
• Provides On-the-Job Training (OJT), coaching, and mentoring to RSLFAC personnel in all aspects of aircraft sheetmetal tasks as necessary.
• Ensures that all related maintenance operations are conducted in a safe manner.
• Other tasks as directed by the Maintenance Lead.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Eight (8) years experience and two (2) within the last five (5) years as an aircraft sheetmetal technician
• Successfully completed, and be qualified by the appropriate U.S. Government armed forces Sheetmetal Technician course or civilian equivalent training
• Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms or similar aviation maintenance management system, and other aircraft related documentation
• Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner
• Possess a valid state or Government-issued driver's license.
• Successfully pass an overseas deployment physical upon hire

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES:

• CH-47 Sheetmetal Fabrication/Modification experience

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
HS diploma or equivalent required.
EDUCATION PREFERENCES:

• Associate Degree
• FAA Airframe License

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Certifications, Etc.)
US Citizenship required.
