Job Purpose Regulatory position supervising the continuous monitoring of UAB Islamic Banking activitiesaEUR(TM) compliance with resolutions, fatwas, regulations, and standards issued by CBUAE-HSA and ISSC. Ensure compliance with Sharia Governance Standards, UAE Law No. 14 of 2018, ISSC resolutions, AAOIFI Shariah Standards, and other relevant regulatory guidelines for Islamic banking. Principal Accountabilities Monitor regulatory requirements, review all documents, contracts, products, manuals, marketing materials, policies & procedures, processes, and other documents from a Sharia perspective. Ensure timely communication of Sharia compliance reviews and non-compliance observations to Senior Management, ISSC, and the Board, with follow-up on significant issues. Follow up on the implementation of new HSA resolutions, including gap analysis. Conduct Sharia compliance reviews as per SCF Standard & Guidance Note. Recommend remedial actions and changes to controls to mitigate Sharia non-compliance risks and improve control effectiveness. Promote and cultivate a Sharia compliance culture within the Bank and enhance staff awareness through regular training. Assist Senior Management in reporting to the Board on the BankaEUR(TM)s Sharia compliance across activities, operations, policies, and regulations. Support the ISSC in ensuring the BankaEUR(TM)s compliance with Sharia standards. Prepare and submit Sharia compliance reports to the ISSC for review before final submission to the CCO and CEO. Review and evaluate Sharia Non-Compliance controls, issue reports, and monitor remedial actions to ensure adequacy and effective operation. Develop internal procedures and policies for Sharia control review exercises, including annual planning, scoping, field reviews, documentation, and monitoring. Create an annual review plan approved by the ISSC and the Board. Plan and scope review processes, gather information, and determine procedures. Conduct field reviews with robust methodologies, document findings accurately, and support findings with evidence. Prepare reports on findings, disseminate to relevant parties, and ensure implementation of corrective actions within designated timelines. Monitor progress and updates on action plans. Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Head of Sharia Control Department. Qualifications & Experience University degree in Sharia or relevant specialization. Professional Sharia and Islamic Banking Control certification from organizations like AAOIFI or CIBAFI. Minimum 5 years of experience in Sharia functions. Strong knowledge of Islamic finance regulations and banking product structures across various banking sectors. Experience in preparing and presenting reports to Board-level committees. Experience dealing with stakeholders and challenging opinions. Strong command of English and reasonable command of Arabic. Seniority level
