We are urgently looking for a

Senior Welding Inspector

for a short-term freelance opportunity with one of our reputed

oil and gas clients

in Qatar. This role is on a

call-off basis

, in line with multiple upcoming project shutdowns. It is ideal for professionals seeking flexible, project-based work with the possibility of contract extension.

Dukhan, Qatar

Working Hours:

10 hours per day, 6 days a week

Freelance - Short-Term / On-Call Basis (2-3 months, extendable depending on project needs)

Role Overview:

We are hiring a Senior Welding Inspector for a short-term, freelance assignment with a reputed oil and gas company in Qatar. This on-call role supports shutdown activities and requires strong expertise in welding inspection, NDT, and coating systems. Immediate availability by mid-August is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

General Duties:

Perform inspection tasks independently to ensure supplier compliance with purchase order requirements. Review engineering drawings and fabrication methods. Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 quality management system standards. Perform various inspection functions with minimal supervision.

Welding & NDT:

Conduct or review Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods such as VT, MT, PT, RT, UT. Interpret radiographic testing films (RTFI) for welds, castings, etc. Review mechanical testing reports related to welders, welding procedures, field hardness, ferrite, PMI testing, and heat treatment. Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes such as ANSI B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, ASME Sections V, VIII, IX, API 620/650, AWS D1.1.

Painting & Coating:

Recommend suitable painting and coating materials and systems for pipelines, equipment, and structures. Ensure compliance with ISO, NACE, MSS SP, and other relevant coating standards. Conduct inspections of insulation and fireproofing systems. Provide troubleshooting and technical recommendations for coating issues.

Qualifications & Certifications

Minimum

10 years of inspection experience

, including

2 years in the specific commodity/process

. Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking). Strong understanding of fabrication processes, engineering drawings, and industry codes. Certified as

AWS Senior CWI

,

CSWIP 3.2

or equivalent. NDT certification to

ASNT Level II

in relevant methods. Valid coating certifications such as

NACE Level II

,

BGAS-CSWIP Grade II

, or equivalent. Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management system.
