Jacobs has developed one of the leading and longest-standing geotechnical and tunnelling consultancy capabilities, with approximately 400 geotechnical and tunnelling engineers delivering practical and innovative solutions to ground-related problems.

As part of our strategy for growth and to further develop our capabilities in the tunnelling sector, Jacobs is seeking a Senior Tunnel Ventilation Engineer to join our team in the United Arab Emirates. You\xe2\x80\x99ll have the opportunity to use your theoretical knowledge and apply it to solving today\xe2\x80\x99s challenges.

As part of our team, you\xe2\x80\x99ll have the chance to perform engineering design and analysis for subway networks using Subway Environment Simulation (SES) software as well as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and other engineering computer modelling (noise, egress, emissions analysis).

You\xe2\x80\x99ll have the opportunity to develop SES and/or CFD modelling and perform simulations to evaluate and optimize tunnel ventilation strategies for enclosed mass transit, rail, road and utility tunnels.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you by analyzing and assessing the consistency and accuracy of the simulation results and generating detailed reports of findings.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll design tunnel ventilation systems including fans, dampers, and ductwork and maintain a working knowledge and understanding of the relevant codes, regulations and client specific requirements.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Manage and coordinate tunnel ventilation works from concept to construction in support of project requirements
• Perform tunnel ventilation analysis using 1D and 3D computational modelling tools (i.e. SES and CFD) and develop innovative designs, meeting our client\xe2\x80\x99s expectations
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines within the tunnel systems team to help complete assigned tasks and projects
• Assisting in the bidding process of future work and developing/strengthening networking channels
• Visit and work from client or project offices and travel as and when required, locally and internationally
• Participate in site inspections of tunnels and related infrastructure facilities as and when required

Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need:

• Hold a Bachelor or Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Mechanical or equivalent engineering degree
• Have 10+ years of experience in tunnel ventilation and mechanical ventilation design
• Be knowledgeable on 1D & 3D modelling tools (SES, ANSYS Fluent/CFX, FDS) and evacuation software, and HVAC Systems would be beneficial
• Have good working knowledge of NFPA with emphasis on NFPA 130 and NFPA 502, and fire life safety codes
• Have knowledge of CAD Software using AutoCAD / Microstation / BIM
• Be an innovative thinker who can help shape tunnel ventilation strategies and solutions on a wide range of building & infrastructure projects including road and rail tunnels
• Be a team player who enjoys working with colleagues in other disciplines and sectors of the construction and other industries
• Be a communicator keen to showcase the concepts and ideas including presentations as well as develop our existing client and internal relationships and create new ones
• Have the ability to work independently and solve complex problems with little supervision
