The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Transport Modeller to join our Dubai based Transport Planning team. This role will primarily support projects across the Middle East - particularly in the UAE and KSA. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality transport modelling and analysis across a wide range of projects, collaborating closely with our India, UK and Australia modelling teams and the wider global Arup network.
As a Senior Transport Planner/Modeller, you will:

• Lead and deliver traffic analysis and transport modelling studies.
• Conduct transit operations analysis and intermodal planning.
• Lead the development of bespoke modelling tooling.
• Develop and review calculations, drawings, programmes, and cost estimates.
• Manage and produce project documentation, reporting, and presentations.
• Coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams with minimal supervision.
• Support project management and mentoring of junior staff.
• Strong understanding of trip generation, demand analysis, and traffic engineering fundamentals. Proven experience in applying and interpreting models, with the ability to build bespoke modelling tools and automate workflows using scripting languages such as Python or VBA.
• Interest or experience in big data analytics, active travel strategies, and future mobility trends is desirable.

Is this role right for you?
We are looking for the following skills.

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (specialisation in Transportation); Master's in Transport Planning is beneficial.
• Post-graduate experience in transport modelling, planning, analytics.
• Proficiency in VISUM and CUBE is essential; experience with SYNCHRO, SIDRA, HCS, VISSIM, EMME, Aimsun, GIS, Python, and VBA is desirable.
• Experience working in UAE, familiarity with UAE guidelines and modelling processes for Dubai and Abu Dhabi (especially for TIS and TMPs modelling processes in UAE) and experience using transport models such as STEAM and DSTM is essential. Knowledge and experience of working in KSA is desirable.
