Job Description

Due to anticipated growth throughout 2023, Wood is currently inviting applications of Senior Telecommunication Engineers with experience in oil and gas engineering for our Engineering team in Abu Dhabi

Role

The candidate shall have full command on Telecom engineering and will be fully responsible for the Telecom and Network design requirement for a large complex Oil & Gas related production installation. The area of expertise shall cover all related Telecom systems utilized in such installation like:

+ Control System networks

+ OT Security networks

+ Safety System (SIS) networks

+ CCTV networks

+ PAGA networks

+ Access Control networks

+ EPABX networks

+ VoIP telephony networks

+ UHF/VHF networks

The Engineer shall be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives of our clients. and to ensure maximum uptime for users. The role can include designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary.

Responsibility

+ Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks

+ Designing Fiber back-bone network for large complex Control system like ICSS

+ Selecting network equipment that are offered by OEMs in compliance to client's project specification and managing subcontractors involved with network installation

+ Preparation of detail engineering documents like Architecture Diagrams, Block / Schematic Diagrams, Datasheets, GA drawings etc

+ Review and approval of FDS, Bill of Material, Calculations, Coverage Study of PAGA system

+ To collaborates with OEMs network architects on proposed network optimization

+ Review and approve the configure and installation of various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers) to maximize network efficiency and security

+ Guide end-user personnel to perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations

+ Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability during the initial stages of the project during commissioning, start-up and handover

+ Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning keeping future scalability provisions

Provide guidance in selecting and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's security team

+ Participate in commissioning for complete systems (CCTV, PAGA, Access Control, LAN, WAN etc) at site location along with integration of existing system components

+ Liaise with OEMs / Vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution during commissioning till handover of the project

+ Able to implement and maintain Access Control Lists (ACL) and Network Address Translations (NAT)

+ Able to validate WAN links and put in place correct methods to connect wide area networks (WAN), and to establish WAN links connecting WAN

+ Attend and take part in project, operational, and other meetings of their teams

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer science / Information technology, / Electronics Engineering in related field

+ 12 years' experience out of which 6 years in network administration

+ Thorough knowledge of prevalent CCTV, PAGA, Access Control and VoIP telephony systemsExperience in system design document for upgradation of complete telecom system

+ Thorough knowledge in Fiber link budget calculations & Amplifier design based on equipment capacity

+ Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is preferred

+ Well versed with security, virtualization, containers, storage engineering, and wide area networking (WAN)

+ Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)

+ Ability to analyze and evaluate complex networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently

+ Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model

+ Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools

+ In depth experience to configure a switch with inter-switch communications and VLAN

+ Knowledge to implement addressing of IP and meet requirements of the networks

+ Good communication and interpersonal skills
