About the Position

If you are a Chartered Structural Engineer looking for your next challenge, we would love to hear from you. We are currently seeking a high-calibre and motivated Senior Structural Engineer to join our expanding Civil and Structural Engineering team to deliver consultancy services and develop engineering solutions for our clients primarily within the retail, commercial and industrial sectors. You will work closely with our highly skilled multi-disciplinary teams throughout the organization and our clients to efficiently deliver projects and provide high value consultancy services.

You will be based in our Leeds office. Our business operates in both the UK and international marketplaces. From time to time our employees may be required to undertake some short to medium term secondments.

General Requirements

You will be expected to have experience of the civil / structures sector and required to have sound knowledge of design in common building materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry. Application of these proficiencies in the relevant sectors and to the relevant Eurocodes and other international codes is desirable.

Demonstrating an aptitude for any of the following will be considered advantageous to any application:

Key Roles and Responsibilities

You are likely to work on a portfolio of different projects and will apply your acquired skills and knowledge in a range of environments. Your role and responsibilities will develop as your knowledge of our business increases, but initially you will be required to provide:

• Successful contribution to and delivery of projects in a team environment, including.
• Personal responsibility and ownership of projects
• Technical and commercial delivery
• Management, liaison and co-ordination of the Engineers and Technicians in the team
• Production of deliverables to programme timescales
• Knowledge sharing and mentoring of less experienced members of the team.
• Interpretation and application of relevant client, industry and GHD standards
• Work collaboratively with other GHD offices on local and international projects.

Qualifications, Technical Skills and Experience Required

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications, skills, and attributes:

• Honours degree in relevant field required.
• Chartered Engineer (MICE, MIStructE).
• Experience in leading teams.
• Knowledge of design in common building materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry
• Knowledge of BIM processes would be an advantage.
• A knowledge of practices and procedures used within the retail, commercial and/or industrial sectors would be an advantage.
• Experience of working within a 3D design environment is needed and an ability to work to BIM protocols would be desirable.
