Job Description

Wood in the UAE is looking to expand its Engineering capabilities in Abu Dhabi to address a significant pipeline of Offshore Oil and Gas facilities expansion projects, building on the current local capabilities and the wide experience available in the other Wood centers of excellence including in the UK and USA.

In support of this plan, we are looking for experienced Senior Structural Engineer with proven track record in the marine environment with ADNOC and other client in the Middle East and globally.

Main Job Purpose

+ Acting as Senior Structural Engineer. The discipline responsibility includes Weight Control and compliance to project specifications.

+ Supporting the Lead Structural Engineer with planning and scheduling of discipline activities and deliverables, including man-hour estimating when required to support bids / tenders.

+ Ensures discipline work to the required schedule and man-hour allocation.

+ Co-ordinates with discipline engineers and the designers to ensure schedule milestones are achieved and man-hour budgets are effectively controlled

+ Acting as discipline reviewer (and originator where necessary) for all structural engineering deliverables (specifications, procedures, SACS computer analyses, calculations, 2D drawings, MTOs and structural design reports). Incorporating check and IDC comments

+ Acting as approver/checker for all discipline deliverables

+ Coordinates with all disciplines (as necessary) in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring that the other disciplines' input is incorporated

+ Reviews the Basis of Design (BOD) and the Project Execution Plan (PEP)

+ Ensures structural compliance with structural specifications as well as applicable code requirements and national /international standards

+ Prepares enquiry requisitions, evaluates bids, prepares technical bid evaluations and manages bid clarifications

+ Prepares / checks / approves structural weight estimation for input into the project weight report

+ Responsible for interface with client and external third parties such as Installation Contractor, Fabrication and Verification Contractors, coordinates meetings and handles responses arising from these interfaces

+ Performs preliminary sizing of structural steel to provide preliminary input into layout group

+ Review all relevant client provided data for structural implications and requirements.

+ Reports on work status/ problem areas / needs

+ Liaison with and reporting to lead Structural engineer, project management and client as required.

+ The candidate should be degree qualified in the field, with minimum 10years industrial experience in the Oil and Gas industry with extensive experience in the design of offshore structures, mainly wellhead platforms, PDP, Gas processing facility, bridges, able to perform all the pre-service analysis (including float-over, on-bottom stability), in-service analysis (including Jacket spectral fatigue, push-over, seismic, topside transportation fatigue, wind induced fatigue for flare tower, bridges) using SACS software for green field and brownfield scope of work, all miscellaneous design calculations for jackets, topsides, bridges, bridge towers through the Concept, FEED and Detailed Design phases.

+ Experience in Pile drivability (GRL Weap) and Marine hydrodynamics (MOSES for Transportation, Jacket Launch and Upending, Transportation motion responses) are preferable.

+ Experience in UAE and ADNOC would be desired.

+ The candidate must have the leadership quality to deliver to the committed project schedule, cost and quality requirements, and to be confident in managing relationship with the client and internal Wood stakeholders

+ The candidate must perform duties through adherence to Wood policies, standards, and procedures and lead by examples in ethical conduct
