Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced

Senior Structural Designer

to lead the structural design and Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination team in Dubai. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in

reinforced concrete

and

structural steel design

, with proven experience delivering complex projects across the

GCC region

.

This leadership role involves managing a skilled design team, ensuring

technical accuracy

, comprehensive

compliance with local authorities

, and robust

BIM coordination

across all project disciplines. The successful candidate must be capable of performing

advanced structural analysis

, executing

manual verification calculations

, and producing efficient,

clash-free, and constructible designs

.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage

the structural design and BIM coordination team to ensure project deliverables are accurate, compliant, and delivered on schedule.

Review, verify, and approve

design drawings, calculations, and BIM models (Revit / Navisworks).

Coordinate effectively

with architectural, MEP engineering, and contracting teams to proactively resolve structural interface issues. Prepare and present detailed

technical reports, design justifications, and complete authority submission packages

. Act as the primary representative in technical meetings with authorities such as

Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, DDA, DCD

, and external third-party consultants. Ensure all designs rigorously comply with international codes, including

ACI, AISC, BS, ASCE

, and relevant

UAE local codes

. Perform

manual verification and hand calculations

to validate and support digital model results and analysis. Supervise the preparation of

Revit models, IFC files, and coordination drawings

to ensure seamless, multidisciplinary integration. Oversee structural analysis, detailing, and BIM documentation processes to maintain the

highest standards of design quality and integrity

.

Mentor junior engineers and modelers

on best practices for structural design and BIM utilization. Participate actively in tender reviews, value engineering, and design optimization initiatives to achieve project efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills

Essential Requirements

Educational Background:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree is preferred).

Experience:

8-12 years

of progressive structural design experience, including a minimum of

5 years

working on projects within the

UAE/GCC

region.

Authorities Expertise:

Proven, hands-on experience with

authority submissions

(e.g., Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, DDA).

Code Proficiency:

Strong, practical knowledge of major structural codes:

ACI 318, AISC, BS 5950, BS 8110, ASCE 7

, and current

UAE standards

.

Software Skills:

Expert proficiency in structural analysis and design software including

ETABS, SAFE, STAAD Pro

. High proficiency in

Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD

, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Technical Acumen:

Deep understanding of

BIM coordination, clash detection

, and model-based collaboration workflows.

Calculations:

Demonstrated ability to independently produce and technically defend

manual structural calculations

.

Communication:

Excellent verbal and written

English communication

and professional technical presentation skills.

Leadership:

Proven

leadership and team management abilities

with an unwavering commitment to quality and detail.
Preferred Attributes

Professional Registration:

Membership in the UAE Society of Engineers or equivalent professional registration.

Project Experience:

Familiarity with design-and-build or consultancy project delivery models in Dubai.

Workflow Knowledge:

Familiarity with

Trakhees, DM, or DDA submission workflows

and international BIM standards like

ISO 19650

.

Coordination:

Ability to effectively lead multidisciplinary coordination meetings, ensuring strict BIM compliance.

Soft Skills:

Strong presentation and negotiation skills for engagement with clients, authorities, and external consultants.
