Job Overview The Senior Specialist Intellectual Capital Management, reporting to the Manager, Intellectual Capital Management, is responsible for managing and monitoring the ADNOC Group intellectual capital portfolio, including developing and implementing an intellectual capital management strategy, forecast the costs and benefits of intellectual property (patents), prepare intellectual capital reports and metrics, and advise management on intellectual capital matters. The candidate is expected to ensure all ADNOC innovation projects and portfolios have defined intellectual capital strategies aligned with business expectations and strategic plans, intellectual capital portfolios are continuously monitored and validated, and maximize the financial return on our innovation investments through effective intellectual capital portfolio management. Responsibilities Serve as the intellectual capital management lead for managing all aspects of innovation intellectual capital for the ADNOC Group of Companies. Develop and implement an ADNOC Group intellectual capital strategy to effectively and efficiently protect innovation investments and maximize the return on innovation investment. Review and develop patent rights for concepts and innovative product ideas in coordination with the Group Technology and businesses, legal and patent attorneys. Providing assistance to inventors with the preparation of invention disclosures and prosecution of patent applications. Develop new and effective methods to for intellectual capital landscape analysis; search, review and analyze relevant patents. Systematically monitor and evaluate competitors' products and patents for market trends and detection of potentially infringing third-party products and licensing opportunities. Support third-party conflicts, such as litigations and post-grant patent challenges. Work in close cooperation with innovation groups and the patent attorneys to support patent generation and patent risk management ("freedom to operate"). Analyze patent portfolios for potential cost savings and patent revenue creation options. Support the preparation of documents required for patent application fillings and trade mark fillings including assignment documents and power of attorney documents. Manage the external law firms' invoices that includes reviewing the invoices, obtaining the required internal approvals, ensuring the invoices will be timely paid. Create and implement an invention concept document system for the identification and management of potential intellectual property opportunities. Maintain an internal patent database. Organize workshops on patent issues in cooperation with patent attorneys and regularly present intellectual capital matters to management. Provide training to innovation for the identification and management of intellectual capital. Partner with external technology to ensure protection of ADNOC's intellectual capital rights with external third-party agreements. Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses for key metrics and special projects. Forecast intellectual expenditures and facilitate monthly tracking. Create intellectual capital dashboards to continuously monitor all innovation activities and return on investment. Regularly reporting the health of ADNOC's intellectual capital portfolio, freedom to operate, and return on investment. Qualifications The successful candidate will have work experience in an innovation, business strategy or marketing environment, ideally in oil and gas and/or petrochemical industries. The role will also require someone able to prioritise easily and work in a fast-paced environment. Advanced qualification in science or engineering Qualification or experience in intellectual property, legal, or paralegal Experienced in intellectual capital management reporting Ability to form long term intellectual capital strategy for innovation Personal skills and key competencies Leadership qualities - ability to influence, develop and coach others Excellent communication and presentation skills Able to network internally and externally
