We UC is a production-grade, multi-zone VoIP platform built for scale. Today it supports more than 10,000 users and is growing quickly. Unlike many SaaS providers, we operate almost all of our own infrastructure in co-location data centres. For real-time communications, owning the network delivers a more reliable, predictable service than public cloud.

Alongside We UC, we are building other applications designed to help businesses improve efficiency with technology.

This role sits in the

Minimal team

, led from Dubai and in close partnership with We UC and circle.cloud in the UK. Candidates can be based in Dubai, in Southampton, or split time between both locations. For exceptional candidates of the highest calibre, a fully remote arrangement will also be considered.

The opportunity

We are looking for a senior engineer with strong leadership skills to take ownership of the software direction for We UC and related applications. This is a hands-on technical role, but also a leadership role from day one.

You will shape our software architecture, lead the development team, and be responsible for the technical strategy of our platform as we scale. You will work with real-time telecoms systems, AI-assisted development workflows and complex distributed infrastructure at production scale.

What you will be doing

Lead architecture and systems design for the We UC platform and supporting applications Take responsibility for shaping long-term technical strategy Manage and mentor the software development team Define and optimise development workflows and methodologies Use AI tools daily to accelerate development and raise code quality Work with infrastructure-as-code such as Ansible and Terraform Deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker Scale and orchestrate systems with Docker Swarm and Kubernetes Lead integrations in VoIP systems, ideally including Kazoo OSS

What we are looking for

At least 10 years of professional experience in software development Proven experience managing or leading development teams Deep knowledge of software architecture, systems design and distributed infrastructure Daily user of AI coding tools Knowledge or experience with infrastructure-as-code is a plus Hands-on with Docker and containerised environments Knowledge of orchestration tools such as Docker Swarm and Kubernetes Experience in VoIP is preferred Familiarity with Kazoo OSS telecoms platform is a plus Ambitious, passionate about software and excited to grow into a senior leadership role such as Head of Software
