Job Description

The Senior Researcher - Research and Analytics is responsible for tracking, measuring and reporting on key topics and metrics relevant to GDMO and its communication efforts. He/she is responsible for the collection of data from a variety of sources, including owned channels, government reports and online sources to assist in the measurement of the impact of specific communications campaigns, strategic initiatives and crisis communication efforts. The Senior Researcher - Research and Analytics is additionally responsible for the tracking of changes in sentiment in Dubai and other markets in line with the Dubai Key Messages, a matrix of communication messages aligned with the Dubai Vision, which departments across GDMO can use to focus their communications and campaigns against. The role holder is expected to demonstrate collaborative teamwork skills and carry out his/her duties in accordance with the relevant business policies and procedures.

General Responsibilities





Work collaboratively with the Section Head - Research and Analytics, Directors across GDMO and teams across GDMO to deliver data, research and reports that assist in decision making, communication messages and post-campaign analyses.

External Requirements Identification

Gather information and data on the external environment (competition, media consumption trends and habits, media industry changes). Conduct and provide research for GDMO using information gathered from multiple places, including other Dubai government entities, such as reports and white papers on media trends and deep-dive reports into media topics. Collect and report on information that highlight the impact of communication activities featuring Dubai and Leadership. Regularly collect information across local, regional and international markets and topics to be used in reports for GDMO teams to drive strategic planning. Develop and maintain a fact sheet on Dubai and Leadership, using statistics derived from the Dubai government combined with information from other sources, covering all sectors and industries within Dubai, and share these periodically (monthly) with GDMO teams. Conduct fact-checking to ensure the correctness of information that is being shared. Collect data and information on the media landscape and media consumption habits for GDMO and its departments, including Strategic Relations, DPC and Brand Dubai. Measure the performance of current communications in order to assess the quality and impact so that they can be taken into consideration for future campaigns. Measure engagement and reach across social media platforms, website visits, bounce rate, average time spent on website etc as needed to assess the impact of communications. Track changes in sentiment, media releases and social media content in line with communications efforts, including events, meetings, conferences and activations, carried out by the GDMO teams. Measure the impact of crisis comms messages and use the learnings to provide learnings for future communications.

Dubai Key Messages

Identify changes in media consumption habits, particularly across social media but also across other digital and traditional media. Conduct sentiment analysis across the Dubai Key Messages and across markets globally, producing reports to share the findings with Directors and Communications Planning. Create case studies of successful and best-in-class communication initiatives, industry case studies, industry reports and industry trend reports, to showcase GDMO as best in class for government communications, Dubai communications, crisis communications, and the source for the most up-to-date and thought-provoking information across the media industry.

Support the Section Head - Research and Analytics with research and reports to assist in developing reports for GDMO and its departments. Work with departments across GDMO to understand their needs, questions and research requirements. Collaborate with Strategy & Excellence to work on strategic projects and initiatives, ensure process excellence and adhere to KPI achievement and reporting.

Qualifications





Experience Required



Functional Experience



A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role



Leadership/Supervisory

A minimum of 3 years working in a team

Education and Qualification Required



Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or information technology


Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or MicroStrategy
