- Research and develop new products based on market requirements; this may include the modification of existing products or the production of new ones.
- Research and develop new techniques to enhance the quality of existing products or reduce the cost of production.
- Conduct certain laboratory tests and analyses.
- Study the test results of various products under development and guide our team on the required action plan.
- Provide technical support to the Sales and Procurement Departments regarding NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and provide step-by-step action plans and solutions.
- Provide formulation guides for lubricants and gradually develop the same knowledge for other lubricant and non-lubricant products.
- Prepare educational presentations for the Sales & Marketing teams (internal use and for customers).
- Learn the latest industry developments and report any changes to the Sales team and Management in an easy-to-understand method.
- Prepare professional technical documentation for existing products as well as new ones.
- Develop a system for data management and storage with regards to laboratory testing data and reports.
- Support the Production team and their activities with technical support.
- Develop formulations jointly with the support of the Line Manager, prepare and conduct test blends.
- Be actively involved in product testing, audits, and all coordination with the third-party laboratory team.
- Manage projects and ensure they are completed promptly and in accordance with deadlines.
- Track and manage new samples and products.
- Prepare the necessary reports in a timely manner and submit them to the Line Manager.
- Research and explore new suppliers for new products with expected quality in various chemical industries.
- Proposing techniques to improve research quality and team productivity.
- Reporting equipment problems and assisting with setting up new equipment.
- Guiding, training, and advising junior researchers and students, and supporting senior research staff.
- Developing and following standard operating procedures and adhering to company policies and safety guidelines.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in a Chemistry discipline or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the additive/lubricant industry.
- 3 years of research-related experience.
- Knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices, and methods.
- Knowledge of scientific laboratory research techniques.
- Computer literacy and strong mathematical, analytical, and research skills
- Understand different base oil classifications and their basic parameters.
- Must be able to formulate monograde & multigrade formulations.
- In-depth knowledge of the necessary instruments/equipment to be used in the laboratory.
- Excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Knowledge of additive components, SAE, VG, API, ILSAC, JASO specifications, and different additives, such as PCMO, HDDEO, Gear oil additives, ATF, Hydraulic, etc. is an advantage.
