Job Description

Position Summary:
The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for overseeing all cost-related surveying functions across designated projects. This role involves scrutinizing tender documentation, developing cost estimates, and maintaining control over project expenses from initiation to completion. The Senior Quantity Surveyor also plays a key leadership role by supporting junior staff and collaborating with senior leadership to achieve budgetary and project milestones.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Tender Review and Coordination

  • Examine architectural and engineering drawings to comprehend the project's scope.
  • Detect inconsistencies or gaps within tender documents and raise them with the leadership team.
  • Create and submit RFIs to clarify ambiguous or missing details in the provided tender materials.
Cost Estimation and Financial Oversight
  • Develop procurement packages for subcontractors and suppliers in consultation with senior leadership.
  • Engage with vendors and subcontractors to obtain reliable and up-to-date quotations.
  • Assess submitted quotations for compliance with project criteria and technical requirements.
  • Break down projected costs for labor, materials, machinery, and site works.
  • Drive value engineering initiatives to maintain quality while reducing project expenditure.
Material Quantification and BOQ Oversight
  • Take the lead in calculating material quantities essential for accurate pricing.
  • Reconcile and validate BOQs from tenders to ensure completeness and consistency with project needs.
Proposal Development
  • Coordinate with management to outline the project scope in bid proposals.
  • Guarantee that bid submissions are thorough, precise, and aligned with corporate strategy.
Interdepartmental Coordination
  • Work closely with teams from procurement, engineering, and project management to align estimates with deliverables.
  • Confirm all cost assessments are in sync with both project and organizational objectives.
Tender Discussions and Adjustments
  • Represent the company in meetings with clients and consultants to address tender inquiries.
  • Revise cost estimates based on received clarifications to ensure competitive and compliant submissions.
Project Records and Budget Reporting
  • Keep organized and thorough records of all estimates, underlying assumptions, and cost data.
  • Deliver consistent updates on budget progress and estimation outcomes to senior leadership.
