To manage all aspects of cost and contractual administration for construction projects, ensuring that projects are delivered within budget, on time, and in compliance with contractual and quality requirements. The role provides strategic financial guidance, cost control, and risk management while collaborating with project teams, clients, and contractors to achieve optimal project outcomes
Key Responsibilities
Cost Planning & Estimation
Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
Conduct feasibility studies and value engineering to optimize costs.
Tendering & Procurement
Prepare tender documents, bills of quantities, and pricing schedules.
Evaluate contractor and supplier bids, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
Contract Administration
Draft, review, and manage contracts with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
Ensure contractual obligations, conditions, and timelines are met.
Cost Control & Monitoring
Track project costs against budgets and provide regular financial reports.
Identify and manage variations, claims, and cost overruns.
Measurement & Documentation
Conduct on-site measurement of work completed.
Maintain accurate records of quantities, costs, and changes.
Risk Management
Identify potential cost and contractual risks and provide mitigation strategies.
Advise management on financial implications of project changes.
Collaboration & Coordination
Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to ensure financial control.
Provide guidance to junior QS staff and support their professional development.
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and final cost reports.
Analyze project performance and provide recommendations for cost optimization.
Compliance & Standards
Ensure all cost management processes comply with company policies and relevant industry standards.
Keep up-to-date with market rates, material costs, and industry trends.
Required Qualifications
BSc in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
12-15 years of relevant experience in the construction industry, preferably within a consultancy environment.
Proficiency in cost control and cost management.
Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Experience in contract administration, including letter writing and providing commercial advice to the Resident Engineer and client.
Expertise in valuation and change management, payment certification, claims and dispute management, final accounts, value engineering, cost analysis, and reporting.
Professional certification (e.g., RICS, MRICS, or equivalent) is a plus.
