About the Role:
This role requires the delivery of turn-key process, packaging and engineering projects to further enhance the safety, quality, efficiency and capability of the production facility within Thornton & Ross. The job holder will take full responsibility for leading projects involving changes and upgrades to equipment, facility and systems and delivering them to a satisfactory and consistent standard. In addition, the Senior Project Engineering will work closely with the Project Engineering Manager in the day-to-day running of the department includes some line management responsibility.
The job holder reports to the Project Engineering Manager and works in conjunction with all appropriate departments dependent upon the project being undertaken. This role also includes direct line management responsibility for 2 x Project Engineers and a Placement Student. Key stakeholder management includes liaising with: Production, Engineering, Supply Chain/Planning, Procurement, HSE, Quality and MS&T.
Key tasks & responsibilities include:
  • Support the Project Engineering Manager in the day-to-day running of the department including some line management responsibilities.
  • Identify and manage capital projects to upgrade and expand the site, services and equipment.
  • Prepare sound financial justifications and detailed project execution plans.
  • Demonstrate adherence to department process and good PM practice throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Define clear project milestones and deliver on time and to budget.
  • Ensure projects deliver a clear and comprehensive handover to operations supported by the appropriate level of documentation and training.

  • Proven experience delivering capital engineering projects on-time in full.
  • Experience in line management and leading teams.
  • Ability to mentor and develop team members
  • Proven technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical and process systems.
  • Knowledge and skills to effectively problem solve.
  • Be self-motivated, with proven organisational ability and the drive to meet deadlines.
  • Customer focused with the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Strong HSE knowledge and focus. Qualified to Nebosh standard preferred.
  • Project Management Qualification preferred (APM PMQ or equivalent)
  • Degree educated or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
