Purpose:

The Production Technology discipline team is responsible for continuous improvement in well performance through efficient Well Reservoir and Facility Management (WRFM), maturation of technology in general and hydraulic fracturing technology in particular for Development and Exploration. The Senior Production Technologist, as a member of the asset subsurface team, will be a key responsible party in steering the delivery of improved fracking technology, further maturation of horizontal wells as well as coaching and mentoring of junior staff.

Accountabilities:

Support the delivery of a technology maturation plan that will establish a fast and continuous learning curve for improved, cost effective, hydraulic fracking delivery and improved inflow performance and ultimate recovery.

Share overall Shell Development Oman (SDO) Production Technology (PT) accountabilities with WRFM / Field Management, specifically in Tight Gas opportunities, Tight Gas production, and fast-tracking growth opportunities

Foster and lead integration with operations, well delivery, development, exploration, well engineering, completion and well intervention teams through efficient interface management and ensuring all pertinent deliveries are met on time.

Drive introduction of fit for purpose technologies that will create value to the business in the delivery of new wells and / or maintain production to further enhance competitive advantage and best in class performance

Deliver Production Technology elements of vertical and horizontal wells with the objective to test and assess fraccing options, their impact on reservoir drainage and the applicability to multi-stage fracked horizontal wells for field development.

Develop and execute stimulation, completions and production engineering plans. Lead operations and junior staff in planning, design, and execution. Work with other disciplines in the team for defining project delivery milestones and delivering those milestones on time and at cost.

Establish global networks with Production Technologists and transfer global technology, and unconventional technology, to the Shell operations in Oman.

Provide efficient Tight Gas well/reservoir monitoring and surveillance activities and manage field management plan.

Ensure best in class WRFM performance with real time digital oil field (IPSM/IVM) deployment already in place. Ensure the system is used to the maximum and value is generated day in day out through efficient utilization and on-time data driven decisions to optimize field performance. Lead the initiative to make SDO a center of excellence of best-in-class WRFM delivery

Ensure that the necessary Petroleum Engineering input is delivered to change projects and operational plans with strong emphasis on a high level of HSE.

Support PT input to Well Integrity restoration and safeguarding plans, preparing proposals and interfacing with all relevant disciplines.

Develop the technical reputation of the team, internally and externally, and participate in Shell's and industry technical networks.

The candidate should be a leader in HSE and be skillful in completions and well planning; in deep tight gas stimulation, fracturing and general production technology. Also influences other disciplines in the team on HSE and sustainable development to ensure goal zero performance is delivered throughout the project life.

You are expected to be a role model in a safety culture of Goal Zero and ensure safety and integrity are forefront in the execution of fraccing operations.

Liaise with the Well Engineering, Subsurface, Well Delivery and Front-End Engineering Teams to design and execute production pilots that best reduce the critical development uncertainties.

Liaise with the Well Delivery Lead to ensure that regular well delivery is utilised to continuously improve frac delivery and effectivity.

Liaise with the Subsurface team to ensure that frac performance properties are adequately captured in reservoir modelling and subsurface development plans.

Support and advise the Front-End Development Manager with all development including technology aspects of the project.

Support frequent communication with peers in the area/studies teams, such that opportunities for synergy and transfer of technology are realised.

Ensure pilot plans are compliant with the corporate technical assurance framework, process safety design and engineering standards.

Participate in peer reviews, project assists, and formal project reviews with the objective of ensuring projects are properly assured in advance of key decision gates.

What we need from You

Only open for Omani Nationals

Minimum Bachelors and preference University Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent.

Minimum 12 years' experience in the upstream oil and gas industry in Petroleum Engineering and leading roles

Broad experience as Operational Production Technologist, including well interventions and completions.

Knowledge in geology, geophysics, petrophysics and reservoir engineering is required for delivering integrated optimal solutions.

Experience with the application of hydraulic fracturing technology, fracture design and fracture modelling and IPSM.

Broad knowledge of all subsurface disciplines, upstream facilities, well delivery and production operations is desirable.

Experience with tight gas and/or unconventional developments will be an advantage.

Candidates should have demonstrated coaching/mentoring capacity and likely have experience as team lead or project lead.

A record of active involvement in internal and external technology networks is an advantage.

Strong team player with corresponding inter-personal skills.
