To oversee, monitor, and audit project schedules, ensuring alignment with client requirements, contractual obligations, and project objectives. The Senior Planning Engineer provides expert guidance on baseline programmes, progress tracking, delay analysis, and extension of time (EOT) claims, supporting timely and cost-effective project delivery. The role ensures effective coordination between design, cost control, and project management teams, while mentoring junior planning engineers and safeguarding the client's interests.
Key Responsibilities
A. Project Scheduling & Planning
Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
Establish and control baseline programmes and milestones in line with contractual requirements.
Develop and monitor look-ahead schedules for project execution and procurement management.
B. Programme Review & Progress Monitoring
Review contractors' baseline, recovery, and look-ahead schedules to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Analyze and monitor weekly and monthly progress reports for contractors and subcontractors.
Conduct variance analyses and advise corrective actions.
C. Delay Analysis & Claims Management
Conduct delay analyses and evaluate Extension of Time (EOT) claims.
Perform time impact and claim analysis using recognized methodologies.
Draft contractual correspondence related to progress, time, and delay claims.
Provide recommendations to clients on claims and schedule recovery strategies.
D. Tracking & Reporting
Ensure that the company's standard Master Document Register/Tracking Log is consistently used and regularly updated to reflect the latest document status and revisions.
Generate periodic document control reports.
E. Coordination & Reporting
Coordinate with design, cost control, and project management teams to ensure consistency between schedule, budget, and deliverables.
Prepare and present progress reports, dashboards, and critical path analyses to senior management and clients.
Represent the planning function in project meetings and communicate schedule performance updates.
F. Risk & Compliance Management
Prepare and analyze risk and recovery schedules; highlight potential risks and impacts to top management.
Ensure QHSE requirements are integrated into project programmes.
Support management in identifying schedule-related risks and developing mitigation strategies.
G. Leadership & Team Development
Mentor and support junior planning engineers and assistants.
Provide technical guidance on planning procedures, tools, and best practices.
Communicate with senior staff and contractors regarding all planning-related issues as authorized.
Required Qualifications
Education
